On the evening of November 26 at the PVF Center Stadium - Ministry of Public Security (Hung Yen), U17 Vietnam had a match with U17 Hong Kong. Before this round, the opponent of coach Cristiano Roland and his team ranked third in Group C of the 2026 AFC U17 qualifiers, after U17 Vietnam and U17 Malaysia.
Compared to the two previous defeats of U17 Vietnam, Singapore and Northern Mariana Islands, U17 Hong Kong had a much better level, so they caused some difficulty for the home team from the first minutes of the match.
However, a moment of individual brilliance helped U17 Vietnam open the scoring early. In the 10th minute, Nguyen Minh Thuy scored a masterpiece with a long-range shot from outside the penalty area. The ball flew straight into the corner of the goal, causing the Hong Kong goalkeeper to fly helplessly.
Taking an early lead, U17 Vietnam maintained their attacking game but it was not until the 70th minute that they were able to increase the gap. In the 70th minute, Nguyen Manh Cuong received a cross from his teammate to shoot close to the goal, raising the score to 2-0.
Although U17 Hong Kong tried their best, their level was not enough so they could not score an honorary goal against U17 Vietnam. This result helped coach Roland's team maintain the top position in Group C of the qualifying round with 9 points after 3 matches.
U17 Malaysia is still in second place because in the same match they only won Macau with a score of 5-0, so they still lost to U17 Vietnam in terms of goal difference (+19 compared to +22).
In the next match, U17 Vietnam will meet Macau on November 28, while U17 Malaysia will meet Singapore. At this point, it can be seen that U17 Malaysia is the biggest rival of U17 Vietnam in the race for the only ticket to the U17 Asia next year.
