On November 28, the People's Committee of Dam Rong 4 commune (old Lac Duong district, Lam Dong province) said that on the evening of November 27, people discovered many cracks on the ground of a hill in the area.
The hill’s ground has sunk deeply, showing signs of sliding down to the foothills where houses and roads are located. On this hill are dozens of graves of people who have lived in the area for a long time.
As soon as receiving the information, the commune mobilized local forces and households with graves on the hill to the scene, cordoned off the dangerous area, and agreed on a relocation plan.
By the morning of November 28, 40 graves were being reburied one by one and moved to the planned cemetery of Dung K'No 1 village to ensure long-term safety.
According to the leader of the People's Committee of Dam Rong 4 commune, the above cemetery was formed many years ago, when the Dung K'No area of Lac Duong district (old) did not have a centralized cemetery, so people took advantage of the hill near the residential area to bury their relatives.
The spontaneous burial process leaves the area unassessed and unconsolidated, posing great risks during the flood season.
