Inauguration of the Laos-Vietnam Combat Alliance Memorial in Xaysomboun Province

According to a VNA reporter in Laos, on November 28 in Xaysomboun province (Northern Laos), the inauguration and handover ceremony of the construction, upgrading and renovation of the Laos-Vietnam Combat Alliance Memorial took place.

Attending the event were representatives of Xaysomboun provincial government; representatives of the Vietnamese and Lao Ministries of National Defense , along with a large number of Vietnamese people in Laos and local people.

This is a sacred project, symbolizing the solidarity in fighting, the side-by-side struggle of the army and people of Vietnam and Laos throughout history. The project was invested and built with non-refundable aid from the Vietnamese Government through the Special Working Group of the two Governments. The memorial is not only a cultural and historical highlight, but also a vivid testament to the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos. The project is also a place to educate traditions, foster pride for future generations and contribute to promoting the increasingly sustainable development of the relationship between the two countries.

The project renovates an area of ​​6,300 m2 and builds new items with a total area of ​​2,000 m2, bringing the total usable area to 8,300 m2. The outstanding new construction item is the 1,500 m2 Park Campus, designed with artistic architectural works combining play spaces, walking paths and a concrete embankment system with an area of ​​over 2,000 m2. The total cost of the project is 1.39 million USD.

Speaking at the event, Major General Monekham Duongsachanh, Political Commissar of the Xaysomboun Provincial Military Command, said that the Laos-Vietnam Combat Alliance Memorial is a project of special significance. Xaysomboun Province will use this project to organize the repatriation ceremony of the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in the war in the province to the motherland Vietnam; at the same time, it will be a place to organize activities to commemorate the heroic soldiers of Laos and Vietnam on major holidays of the two Parties, two States and two Governments.

Major General Monekham Duongsachanh affirmed that the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, two States, two Governments and peoples of Laos and Vietnam, Vietnam and Laos is the only relationship in the world. Vietnam's assistance to Laos comes from a pure and sincere heart, like that of blood brothers.

On behalf of the Party Committee, government and armed forces of Xaysomboun province, Major General Monekham Duongsachanh pledged to use the projects supported by Vietnam for their proper purposes and expressed hope that the two sides will continue to join hands to protect and foster the great friendship between Laos and Vietnam, and between Vietnam and Laos, to become increasingly stronger.
