Through the review of Khanh Son Commune People's Committee, the recent heavy rain and flood has seriously damaged the water supply systems in the commune, especially the water pipe system at the source of the domestic water system in the villages: Ta Gu, Xom Co and Co Lac was washed away, damaging a total of about 3.5km, causing the water supply to the people to be interrupted. In addition, people in the central area of the commune have lacked domestic water for many days because the system of To Hap Water Plant (invested by Khanh Hoa Water Supply and Drainage Joint Stock Company) was damaged by the recent heavy rain and flood. "Up to now, 8/13 villages in the commune have been supplied with clean water and hygienic water again; 5 villages: Ta Gu, Xa Boi, Hon Dung, Lien Hiep, Co Lac are still facing difficulties in water sources. The unit is urgently repairing the systems to supply water to the people again", said Mr. Nguyen Quoc Dung - Director of Khanh Son Commune Public Service Center.
In Tay Khanh Son commune, 300m of water supply pipes and 500m of raw water supply pipes were washed away by the water; the raw water supply pipes and the upstream collection pit were completely filled up by the water, causing the water supply to the people to be interrupted until now. In order for the people in the area to have water for daily use and contribute to stabilizing their lives after the flood, the locality has asked the villages to check households with drilled wells and mobilize people to share water sources to help each other have water for daily use while waiting for the water supply systems to be repaired.
Proposal for funding support for repair
Mr. Tran Tan Chong - Head of the Economic Department of Dong Khanh Son commune said: “In Dong Khanh Son commune, 5 domestic water supply systems were severely damaged, causing the water supply to 10 villages in the area to be interrupted for about 1 week. Immediately after the water receded, the People's Committee of Dong Khanh Son commune inspected and immediately repaired the damage to the water supply systems, especially dredging the upstream water collection pits; welding and connecting the pipes washed away by the flood... to temporarily supply domestic water to the people. Up to now, people in 8/10 villages in the commune have domestic water; only 1 part of Tha Mang village and 1 part of A Thy village are still lacking domestic water”.

Currently, the domestic water supply systems in 3 communes: Khanh Son, Dong Khanh Son, Tay Khanh Son have only been temporarily repaired, the source of hygienic domestic water in the communes is still lacking. Therefore, the localities ask people to use water economically; at the same time, they hope that households with hygienic water sources will share their water sources with neighboring households. In addition to temporarily repairing the water supply systems to meet the basic living needs of the people, the localities propose that the province support funding to restore the domestic water supply systems damaged by floods to ensure water supply for people as before, in which Dong Khanh Son commune proposed 1.2 billion VND; Khanh Son commune proposed 2.3 billion VND; Tay Khanh Son commune proposed 4 billion VND.
