Building "Drug-free Da Nang City"

Immediately after receiving the direction of the City Police Director, Phu Thuan Commune Police urgently advised the Commune People's Committee to deploy the "Drug-free Village" model, piloting in Tay Le and An Bang villages.

Lieutenant Colonel Tran Minh Quang, Chief of Phu Thuan Commune Police, said that the unit proactively coordinated with departments, branches and organizations to organize propaganda and mobilize people to sign the commitment "Family free from drug abuse". At the same time, they went to each village and each family to propagate the law as well as help people better understand the harmful effects and consequences of drugs.

In just a short time of implementation, 100% of the people in Tay Le and An Bang villages signed the commitment, demonstrating the consensus and high determination of the people in joining hands to push crime and drug abuse out of the community.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Phu Thuan Commune, said that thanks to the participation of the entire political system from commune to village, in which the police force plays a core role, the "Drug-free village" model has really gone into depth, initially achieving practical results. In the coming time, the commune will continue to replicate the model, contributing to the building of a "Drug-free society" by 2027.

Ngu Hanh Son Ward also focuses on replicating advanced models and typical examples and building the movement "All people participate in the fight against drug crimes".

In addition, the specialized force focuses on social and professional prevention measures; organizes the fight against and eliminates the illegal buying, selling, transporting, storing and using of drugs. Thereby, reducing supply, demand and the harmful effects of drugs, ensuring that no new addicts arise and no complex drug hotspots or gathering places are formed.

According to the City Police, in recent times, state management of drug addiction treatment and post-treatment management has been effectively implemented by police units and localities in the city.

The entire city police force has screened and counted more than 4,600 subjects related to drugs. Of these, 98 cases were discovered and arrested, 295 subjects were prosecuted, 282 subjects were administratively handled for drug crimes; at the same time, 54 cases were arrested, 85 subjects were prosecuted for illegal drug trafficking.

Police units and localities strengthen drug management and testing; strictly handle violations in the methadone treatment group, contributing to cleaning up the area, reducing 541 criminal cases (down 31.69% compared to the same period in 2024).

Colonel Nguyen Ha Lai, Deputy Director of the City Police, said that the City Police requires all forces to thoroughly grasp the direction of the Ministry of Public Security , the City Party Committee and the City People's Committee; to concentrate highly during the peak period from now until the end of 2025, in order to effectively implement the goal of building "Drug-free Da Nang City in the period of 2025 - 2030".

Accordingly, the police of units and localities continue to review and establish complete and accurate management records for 100% of drug addicts and illegal drug users. At the same time, strengthen propaganda and mobilize drug addicts to voluntarily declare and detoxify at home and in the community; mobilize the combined strength of the entire political system and people in drug prevention work, contributing to maintaining security and order, building a healthy, drug-free social environment...
