Cam Lam - Cam Ranh Forest Ranger Department received a rare golden mountain turtle

On November 24, Mr. Hoang Trung Si - Head of Cam Lam - Cam Ranh Forest Protection Department received a rare golden mountain turtle weighing 2.5 kg discovered by a resident of Cam Ranh ward.

The golden mountain turtle was received by Cam Lam - Cam Ranh Forest Protection Department.

On the same morning, a resident of Cam Ranh ward, while walking on Le Hong Phong street (Loc An residential group, Cam Ranh ward), discovered this golden mountain turtle in a roadside drainage ditch. Immediately after the discovery, this resident contacted the Cam Lam - Cam Ranh Forest Protection Department to hand it over. After receiving it, the Cam Lam - Cam Ranh Forest Protection Department processed it and will release it back into the natural environment according to regulations. It is likely that the golden mountain turtle followed the floodwaters of the past few days to this area.

Rare golden mountain turtle

The Golden Mountain Tortoise (Indotestudo elongata) is a rare and endangered species of turtle, listed in the list of rare and endangered forest animals of Vietnam (Group IIB), classified as critically endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. This turtle species is strictly protected under Vietnamese and international law; all hunting and trading are prohibited.
