Air Defense Division 377 actively helps people overcome flood consequences

After completing the mission of rescuing people during the peak flood days, from November 22, when the flood water had just receded, Air Defense Division 377 mobilized hundreds of officers, soldiers and many vehicles to actively help people recover from the flood and soon stabilize their lives.

Efforts to restore schools and medical stations

After a day of intense work after the floodwaters had just receded, on the evening of November 22, more than 20 officers and soldiers of Regiment 274, Air Defense Division 377 temporarily stayed overnight at Dien Phuoc Kindergarten (Dien Tho commune) to continue helping the school in the following days. At dawn on November 23, after quickly eating a loaf of bread, they continued the cleaning work, determined to finish soon so that the children could return to school soon. Arriving there that same morning, we recorded the chaotic scene left by the flood. From tables, chairs, cabinets, shelves to school supplies, children's toys and kitchen utensils, cakes, milk... were floating all over the school grounds. The officers and soldiers of the unit and the school's officers and teachers were urgently cleaning up and meticulously scrubbing each item. Soldier Vu Trung Nghia shared: "Although the workload is huge and the items are countless, we try to collect and clean them thoroughly to reuse for the children, especially toys and kitchen utensils."

Ms. Nguyen Thi Huyen Thuyen - Vice Principal of Dien Phuoc Kindergarten said: "The school is located in a low-lying area, so the floodwaters flooded very quickly and deeply, with the peak of the flood being over 2.5 meters. Due to the nature of the kindergarten, there are many teaching aids and children's toys, most of which are small objects, so collecting and cleaning takes a lot of time. Without the help of the army, we don't know when the school will be able to finish cleaning up."

At Nguyen Thai Hoc High School not far away, dozens of officers and soldiers of Regiment 591, Air Defense Division 377 also actively helped the school clean up, dredge mud in the school yard, scrub classroom walls and floors, rearrange tables and chairs, transport teaching materials, books, documents and collect garbage. Classrooms with electrical equipment were checked, dried and ensured to be safe before being handed over to the school.

At Dien Phuoc Medical Center and Dien Tho Medical Station, officers and soldiers of the division worked hard to clean up mud in the emergency area, collect medical waste, transport hospital beds, oxygen tanks, and medicines to the warehouse; and at the same time dry blankets, mosquito nets, and wet items, creating conditions for the facilities to receive and treat patients after the flood.

Help the locality stabilize soon after the flood

In parallel with cleaning activities at schools and medical facilities, the unit's forces also divided into many teams, using 10 cars to collect and transport garbage on main roads in the area; helping families in difficult circumstances and single-parent households clean their houses... Thereby helping to quickly clean the environment, ensure safe traffic, and help people stabilize their lives soon after the flood.

Directly commanding the force doing mass mobilization work in Dien Tho commune, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Duy Tuan - Deputy Chief of Staff of Air Defense Division 377 said that since November 22, the division has mobilized hundreds of officers, soldiers and many vehicles of the division and its affiliated agencies and units, focusing on helping many localities in the province to overcome the flood. The unit's forces will continue to work side by side with local Party committees, authorities and people in the coming days, until the consequences of the flood are basically overcome. The support activities were carried out urgently and focused by officers and soldiers of the division, helping schools and medical facilities to soon resume effective operations and people to soon stabilize their lives.

The timely and practical support of the 377th Air Defense Division's units and soldiers in the past few days has contributed to helping the locality quickly stabilize the operations of agencies, units and people's lives, which has been recognized and highly appreciated by the Party Committee, the government, agencies, units and the local people. Mr. Nguyen Hai Nguyen - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Dien Tho commune said: "During the recent flood, Dien Tho commune was deeply flooded, with many areas being flooded over 3 meters deep, so the damage was very severe. In the past few days, the military forces, including the 377th Air Defense Division, have effectively helped the locality, from rescue work to cleaning up and overcoming the flood".
