On November 24, the Department of Home Affairs of Dak Lak province announced that the Provincial People's Committee has just issued a Decision on awarding a certificate of merit to Mr. Tran Cong Thanh (51 years old, residing in Phu Huu village, Hoa Thinh commune).
Mr. Thanh was awarded a certificate of merit for his outstanding achievements and bravery in rescuing people during the floods from November 18 to 22 in the province.

Although the water was strong and dangerous, Mr. Thanh was still determined to save people.
On November 19 and 20, floodwaters in Phu Huu village rose suddenly, forcing people to break tiles and climb onto roofs to call for help.
At this time, Mr. Thanh did not have time to move his family's belongings to higher ground, so he rowed the boat alone to take everyone to a nearby two-story house to avoid the flood.
According to Mr. Thanh, because the situation was so dangerous, he did not have time to think much but only focused on getting people from the roofs onto the boat and moving them to safety, then continued to rescue others.
From the evening of November 19 to November 21, Mr. Thanh single-handedly rowed a boat to take more than 40 people to a two-story house to avoid the flood safely.
During the rescue process, although he was very scared and nervous because of the strong water flow, because there were many children and elderly people, he overcame everything to promptly save people from the flood water.
