From November 17 to 21, the eastern communes of Dak Lak province suffered a historic flood that swept away many houses and properties of the people. In addition, many other infrastructures were also severely damaged. In particular, the education sector suffered huge losses in terms of facilities, with 226 schools directly affected.

According to Mr. Luu Tien Quang, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Dak Lak , as of this morning (November 27), there are still some schools in Hoa Thinh and Hoa Xuan communes that cannot let students return to school due to severe damage to facilities.
"The Department has mobilized staff and teachers to coordinate with other units to urgently clean up the school, with the top priority being to get students back to school as soon as possible," said Mr. Quang.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Tinh, Principal of Luong Van Chanh Secondary School (Phu Hoa 2 Commune) said that this morning the school started to organize the first class after the flood. However, students had to study in extremely poor conditions such as no books, no television...

Ms. Tinh shared that there are currently about 20 students who have not come to school because they do not have uniforms, the roads are not completely cleared and there is no means of transportation to class. The school has encouraged parents to feel secure in letting their children go to school. If they lack books and clothes, the school will ask for donations and wait for support from all levels and sectors.
"The school has 1,300 students, all of whom have no books or uniforms. This shortage has forced teachers to teach in the traditional way, mainly lecturing to students. We hope that authorities, sectors, and donors will quickly support so that all students can return to school soon and stably," said Ms. Tinh.
