Important steps
On the morning of November 28, the seminar “Effective application of AI in classroom management” and the launching ceremony of Khanmigo - AI teaching assistant for Vietnamese teachers” took place at the Vietnam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics (VIASM). The event was jointly organized by the Department of Teachers and Educational Managers, the Vietnam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics, the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education, and The Vietnam Foundation.
In his opening speech, Dr. Pham Ngoc Thuong - Permanent Deputy Minister of Education and Training emphasized that on August 22, 2025, the Politburo issued Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in education and training development, clearly stating 6 viewpoints, 8 key tasks and solutions; including specific solutions on digital transformation and artificial intelligence education.
In the current period, digital transformation has become an important pillar to improve the quality of education, classroom management, and school management. AI is a major step forward in technology, achieving unprecedented innovations in education and training. Many countries in the world have identified education as a top priority in AI application.

The Ministry of Education and Training is implementing two very important contents: One is digital transformation, applying AI in teaching; the other is making English the second language in schools. There are many solutions that need to be implemented to ensure that these two projects achieve their goals, but one of the most important contents is training, fostering, and equipping knowledge for teachers and education managers.
Although education has been given attention through directives and policies, implementing this content in Vietnam is still a challenging problem with a large audience, regional characteristics, and different teacher ages.
Therefore, when implementing, there needs to be a clear and specific roadmap, listening, applying and learning from international experiences of other countries, especially countries with social conditions similar to Vietnam. From there, there will be assessments close to the current state of education in Vietnam, proposing appropriate recommendations and solutions nationwide and in each locality.

"The launch of Khanmigo - AI Teaching Assistant for Vietnamese teachers is an important event. This is the effort, dedication, and significance of the whole team, demonstrating the responsibility and companionship of individuals and society, whose main beneficiaries are students and teachers," said Permanent Deputy Minister Pham Ngoc Thuong.
To effectively deploy AI applications in classroom management, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Ngoc Thuong said that it is necessary to develop guidelines for using AI in teaching and learning. This should include specific criteria, emphasizing the use of safe tools, and clear regulations on AI ethics.
At the same time, it is necessary to implement digital skills training for managers, teachers, and students, create an AI ecosystem, personalize, and shorten the educational gap with AI. In addition, it is necessary to prioritize protecting student and teacher data and comply with AI ethics regulations. Choose content that is appropriate for each age group and actual conditions.
Expanding cooperation possibilities

Within the framework of the program, the Department of Teachers and Educational Administrators (Ministry of Education and Training), representatives of Departments of Education and Training and The Vietnam Foundation signed a Memorandum of Understanding on promoting the application of artificial intelligence in teacher training and development and deploying Khanmigo in Vietnam.
The agreement aims to strengthen coordination in applying AI technology to teaching activities, supporting teachers to improve digital capacity and implement personalized teaching, especially in the context of promoting English as a second language in schools.
The seminar "Effective application of AI in classroom management" was held with the participation of leading experts and educational managers such as Prof. Dr. Ho Tu Bao, Director of the Data Science Laboratory, VIASM; Dr. Vu Minh Duc, Director of the Department of Teachers and Educational Managers; Dr. Nguyen Hong Son, Vice President of the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education; Prof. Dr. Le Anh Vinh, Director of the Vietnam Institute of Educational Sciences (VNIES); M.A. Chu Hai Yen, Teacher of Foreign Language Secondary School, University of Foreign Languages and Dr. Do Ngoc Minh, The Vietnam Foundation.

The speakers shared in-depth perspectives on the role of AI in education, the possibility of applying Khanmigo in Vietnamese classrooms, as well as cooperation orientations between units to spread this tool to teachers nationwide. The discussion also opened up a space for direct exchange between experts and teachers, where teachers could ask questions, share concerns, and discuss the opportunities and challenges when applying artificial intelligence in teaching.
Associate Professor Dr. Le Minh Ha - Executive Director of the Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics said: "The application of AI in teaching in general and teaching Mathematics in particular is considered one of the key solutions to improve the quality of Mathematics training, especially supporting teachers in personalizing the learning process for students at all levels. Khanmigo is not only a tool to support teaching in general, but for Mathematics, it is also a bridge to help students approach Mathematics in a more natural and interesting way...".
