This year, the competition attracted more than 32 teams with more than 100 students from courses K23, K24 and K25 of the Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications.
As a member of the QCM-ETE team, representing the Polytechnic University to participate in the International Intelligent Pathfinding Robot Competition in Taiwan in August 2025, Le Thanh Tra (4th year Computer Engineering student, class 22KTMT2) took on the role of Head of the Competition's Arbitration Board with the desire to share experiences and inspire passion for technology for students in the lower classes.
Le Thanh Tra shared that she understands very well the difficulties and problems that the teams may encounter. Being part of the organizing committee allows Tra to support the teams in a practical way, from guiding, explaining the rules, to adjusting the challenges to be reasonable.
The organizing committee members are mostly students, so they have to ensure their studies in class and divide their time reasonably to perform tasks such as constructing the driving course and organizing training sessions for the contestants. In particular, the design of the driving course for both the qualifying and final rounds requires the organizing committee to have careful calculations to both create challenges and ensure fair competition between the teams.
Winning the championship, Thai Van Lai and Van Nam Khanh (class 25KTMT1, team CYBER EAGLE) confided: “We are very happy and excited. The competition brings many practical lessons that are not always available in the classroom.”
Meanwhile, Huynh Thi Hong Tu (class 24DT1, OrionLab team), who won the Fairplay award, shared that although the results were not as expected, every moment in the competition was memorable for the whole team. “When the robot did not run correctly, the whole team tried and fixed it together, and when we successfully passed the maze, the joy was indescribable… ETE - AUTORACE 2025 was truly an interesting experience for us to learn, play, and bond with each other,” Tu expressed.
Le Duy Hoang (student 22KTMT2) commented that the role of students in the organizing committee creates a very unique color for ETE Autorace 2025. They bring enthusiasm, flexibility and innovation - factors that help the competition become more lively and closer.
When students themselves are behind the scenes, with the advice of their teachers, the competition becomes a comprehensive learning process: they not only manage a large-scale event, but also practice leadership, teamwork and problem-solving skills. This gives it a special meaning: ETE-AUTORACE 2025 is not only a competition for students, but also a competition created by students.
Taking on the role of Deputy Organizing Committee of the competition, Thai Viet Dai (3rd year student) said that by participating in this competition, students can fully experience the process of building a complete system - from software programming, algorithm design, selection and integration of hardware components, to optimizing performance according to the requirements of the organizing committee.
Dr. Dao Duy Tuan, Deputy Head of the Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications, University of Technology, who is also the initiator and organizer of the contest, said that this is the 5th time the contest has been held. This year, the number of students is much larger than previous years, showing their interest in the contest as well as their unceasing passion for research and innovation. The teams applied the knowledge they had learned, came up with many creative ideas and completed a contest with an attractive fighting and competitive spirit.
