Mu Cang Chai Ethnic Boarding Secondary School currently has more than 400 students who are children of Mong, Thai, Tay ethnic groups... Many of them live in villages perched on the mountainside, far from school and with extremely difficult roads. After more than 60 years of construction and development, this boarding school has become a "bridge" bringing letters to children in the highlands, opening up opportunities for them to access full and equal knowledge.

Over the years, the school has always focused on building a comprehensive and disciplined educational environment; aiming for a happy school model, creating trust from parents and people in mountainous communes when sending their children to study.

Teacher Mua A Quynh - Principal of the school said: We always accompany and share the difficulties of students and consider each student as our own child. At the same time, we create the best conditions for them to study and grow.

Thanks to the attention of the State, in recent years the school's facilities have been continuously invested and improved. The boarding houses, classrooms, dining halls and common areas have been built spaciously and cleanly; the school yard is spacious, always filled with laughter during recess. One of the important factors that create a "second home" environment is the conditions for taking care of the students' lives. Every day, the students are guaranteed a nutritional regime according to boarding standards, their activities are monitored by the wardens and a clear schedule is maintained.

In the communal kitchen, rice pots are always on fire from early morning. The food is carefully selected by the school, prioritizing fresh, clean local sources. The menu is changed weekly, suitable for the taste of ethnic minority students. Thanks to that, the rate of malnutrition has decreased significantly, the health of the students has improved significantly, and learning efficiency has been enhanced.

The dormitory is arranged in small rooms of 8-12 students, students have enough warm blankets for winter. In the evening, after school, students gather together to read books, do homework, sing, creating a warm and united family atmosphere.

In addition to improving the quality of study, the school pays special attention to training life skills and personality education for students. Students can participate in many clubs, such as arts, sports , football, panpipe dancing, scarf dancing, and experience labor through activities such as growing vegetables, caring for and cleaning the landscape. The school implements the model of "Happy School", in which teachers are the ones who inspire, and students are listened to and respected. Thanks to this friendly environment, many shy students are now more confident, know how to share, support friends and integrate well with the group.

Modern teaching methods are applied in a student-centered direction, flexibly combining theory and practice. Teachers are encouraged to apply information technology to increase the visuality and effectiveness of teaching. Thanks to that, the attendance rate is always maintained at a high level; many students win prizes in provincial-level excellent student competitions; and the annual high school entrance exam rate is almost absolute.

Over the past 60 years, thousands of local students (Mong ethnic group) have been trained by the school through formal systems, recruitment, source training and staff planning. Many have grown up and become cadres taking on important responsibilities in state agencies from the central to local levels. In particular, many former students have returned to contribute to the development of their homeland. They are living proof of the effectiveness of the boarding school model and are also a great source of pride for the school.

With the support of teachers and the attention of the government and community, Mu Cang Chai Ethnic Boarding Secondary School continues to be a solid "second home" - a place to sow the seeds of knowledge, humanity and hope for the young generation in the highlands.
