Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Faculty of Mathematics and Information Technology, University of Education

DNO - On the morning of November 9, the Faculty of Mathematics and Information Technology, University of Education (University of Danang) celebrated the 50th anniversary of its founding, with the participation of school leaders, generations of lecturers, alumni and students.

Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Quy Muoi, Head of the Faculty of Mathematics and Information Technology, said that the Faculty of Mathematics and Information Technology originated from the merger of the Mathematics and Information Technology groups of Da Nang University of Technology, Quang Nam - Da Nang Pedagogical College and the Mathematics teaching staff of Nguyen Van Troi Technical School.

In 1994, with the establishment of the University of Education (University of Danang), the Faculty of Mathematics and Information Technology was officially established. After 50 years of formation, connection and development, the faculty has now become a multi-disciplinary, multi-level training unit, with 4 undergraduate programs, 6 master's programs and 3 doctoral programs.

The faculty's teaching staff has continuously grown in both quantity and quality, from a few lecturers with master's degrees at the beginning, to now have 5 associate professors, 30 doctors and 8 masters.

The faculty has published many valuable research works in prestigious international journals, making practical contributions to the development of mathematics and information technology.

Not only is it the cradle of thousands of math teachers, IT experts, and researchers, the Faculty of Mathematics and Information Technology is also a vibrant scientific center with many research projects applied to life.

The faculty's main research directions range from pure mathematics, applied mathematics, optimization, modeling, to data science, artificial intelligence, computer vision and software engineering, meeting the growing needs of the digital society.

Entering the digital transformation era, the Faculty of Mathematics and Information Technology defines the mission of "Knowledge Convergence - Connection Spreading - Development Creation", the faculty focuses on innovating training programs, enhancing business cooperation, developing applied research to create a modern learning and creative environment, where students can apply mathematics and information technology to solve practical problems of society.

With a vision to 2030, the faculty aims to become the leading training and research center in Mathematics - Information Technology in the Central region, gradually reaching international standards, making practical contributions to the development of Danang University and Vietnam's education.

Dr. Phan Duc Tuan, Vice Principal of the school, said that in the coming time, the faculty will continue to promote its strengths and pioneer, strongly innovate the training program towards interdisciplinary and comprehensive digitalization; become the core of the school's educational innovation and startup ecosystem; promote close connection according to the "3 houses" model (state - school - business)...
