Storm No. 15 will become a tropical depression before reaching the shore.

According to Vietnam and world meteorological agencies, storm No. 15 may weaken into a tropical depression and move at only one-fifth of its normal speed due to being "stuck" between many atmospheric systems.

Updated to early morning of November 30 from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the center of storm No. 15 is at coordinates of about 13.8 degrees North latitude and 112.2 degrees East longitude (in the Northwest sea of the central East Sea). The storm has now reduced its intensity to level 9 with gusts of level 11 and is moving in a North-Northeast direction at a very slow speed (nearly 3km/hour - 1/5 of the normal speed).

According to meteorological experts, the reason the storm is moving abnormally slowly is because it is blocked by cold air, the subtropical high pressure in the East Sea (lack of guiding currents), strong wind shear above, and the storm's internal weakening, so it no longer has the momentum to move quickly.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that in the next 24 to 72 hours, the storm will tend to change direction continuously and will continue to weaken, possibly becoming a tropical depression right over the sea... before entering the mainland of the South Central region.

Specifically, from this morning to the morning of December 1, the storm moved north at a speed of nearly 3km/hour, the center of the storm was about 340km from the Gia Lai - Dak Lak coast and was at level 9, gusting to level 11.

From the morning of December 1 to the morning of December 2, the storm changed direction to move West Southwest at a speed of 3-5km/hour, the center of the storm gradually moved West and was only about 230km from the shore, the intensity decreased to level 8 gusts level 10. On December 3, the storm continued to keep West Southwest at a speed of 5-7km/hour, weakened to level 6 gusts level 8 (tropical depression) off the South Central coast and about 120km from the shore. After this time, the tropical depression continued to move West Southwest at a speed of about 10km/hour and continued to decrease in intensity.
