Conquer the cloud paradise
Before setting off, we turned on the Round Trip Routing feature on the fēnix 8 - an intelligent navigation system with the ability to actively guide and protect users, creating more peace of mind when stepping into the majestic forests of the Northwest.

To get to Ky Quan San, you must pass Muoi Mountain (or Bach Moc Luong Tu) at an altitude of 2,215m above sea level.
Ky Quan San, the 3,046m high mountain, the fourth highest in Vietnam, located in Sang Ma Sao commune, Bat Xat district, Lao Cai , is the most popular mountain climbing destination in Vietnam in recent years.

With a length of about 30km round trip in 3 days 2 nights, we had plenty of time to enjoy the clouds and sky.
Waiting for the magical scene of nature at Muoi Mountain in the cold of about 10 degrees Celsius was really worth it. The mountain wind blew coldly into the skin, but when the first rays of sunlight appeared, the warmth seeped in and melted away the freezing cold.

The eyes are filled with the wonder of the clouds and sky and there the boundaries of heaven and earth are adjusted very quickly according to the sunlight.
I sat there looking at my body stats on the Garmin fēnix 8 MicroLED screen, feeling a sense of peace and calm.
Trusted companion
With Garmin fēnix 8 MicroLED on hand, closely monitoring body conditions such as SpO2, heart rate 24/7, alarms exceeding the highest threshold... is very easy.
Just glancing at the watch face with simple operations will immediately recognize my own indicators, helping me feel more secure during the trekking trip.

Garmin is the first brand to successfully integrate a MicroLED display into a smartwatch, an important milestone because MicroLED is the most advanced display technology.
The fēnix 8 MicroLED watch face features over 400,000 micro-LEDs (1-10 microns), allowing for a peak brightness of 4,500 nits. The display is not only exceptionally bright, but also boasts a 15% wider color gamut and 6x the contrast.

On the journey to conquer Bach Moc Luong Tu and Ky Quan San, reading data is very quick, just a quick tilt of the wrist to clearly see the necessary parameters.
This makes a huge difference when compared to other displays.
MicroLED technology on the fēnix 8 has optimized outdoor visibility in harsh sunlight while still providing vivid colors and deep blacks, helping to display well in direct sunlight or strong light.

We also look at the Body Battery feature to know when to rest and when to keep moving, avoiding over-fatigue and health risks.
Through the indicators, we confidently conquered Bach Moc Luong Tu and Ky Quan San without worrying about their health. We saw that Nhan Phuc Vinh and Le Vinh were very strong... probably because they were young.
The feelings are still there
Looking back, the slopes at Ky Quan San always made us feel uncomfortable and suddenly realized it was more difficult than the trail at VMM.
From the hut in Muoi Mountain to Ky Quan San, there are times when the road is steep and precarious, there are times when the forest road is muddy... and especially the precarious feeling like being between the clouds and the sky on the dinosaur-like slope.

Our hearts beat faster, our breathing became more rapid, but in return, we were able to live fully in the lush green bamboo forests, the mossy trees that seemed to be thousands of years old... and the sea of clouds that covered every corner of our view.
Sitting alone in the sea of clouds, I saw through the Garmin Share feature that my companions had passed me by a kilometer so I stopped looking at the clouds. I stood up and continued walking.

fēnix 8 continues to maintain a strong design standard but in the hand it is harmonious. With a titanium bezel, scratch-resistant sapphire glass... not afraid of impact and also heat-resistant, waterproof, shock-resistant.
During this climb, the watch hit the tree several times but it was not damaged.
The company has integrated LED lights on the edge, providing extremely useful convenience such as finding things in backpacks, tents; illuminating in the dark, foggy weather.
We were very pleased with it, especially when in the Salt Mountain hut, the light from the LED on the clock did not affect the sleep of others in the hut.

At Bach Moc Luong Tu, Ky Quan San, the watch on our wrist has morning reports (Morning Report) and afternoon reports (Evening Summary) summarizing daily indicators such as heart rate, sleep, recovery... becoming valuable information that determines our steps.
Worth noting, the ClimbPro feature breaks down each climb, predicts the grade, provides early warnings and displays visual charts that helped us distribute our effort appropriately.

In actual use, when going from Ho Chi Minh City to Lao Cai for a trekking trip and returning to Ho Chi Minh City within 5 days, the battery still had nearly 40%, enough to last a whole week without needing to charge.
We even joked that if we go back and climb Fansipan again, we probably won't need to charge our watch battery...

This was an exciting trip, at night in the freezing cold of the mountains and forests, but waking up the next morning, the gentle sunlight filtered through the leaves, bringing the warmth of the early day.
Sitting down to drink a cup of morning coffee, breathing in the fresh air, listening to the birds chirping and the stream flowing, a feeling of peace and freedom fills my soul. On my hand is the fenix 8 microLED, which gives me new perspectives from many angles, making it different from other sports watches I have ever worn.
