On November 24, the Institute of Vaccines and Medical Biologicals (IVAC) launched a free tetanus vaccination program for all people in flooded areas and those participating in relief and rescue work. From early morning, at the SAFPO Nha Trang and SAFPO Suoi Dau vaccination rooms, many people were present at the vaccination points to register. Some had just returned from rescue work, while others discovered they had been stabbed by a hard object after a few days of cleaning their house and came to get vaccinated immediately. Many people came to get vaccinated with fresh wounds on their legs and arms.

As soon as they heard the news, three members of Mr. Le The Dieu's family (West Nha Trang ward) went to get vaccinated. Mr. Dieu said: "My house was deeply flooded. After the water receded, while cleaning the house, I slipped and fell, hitting my head on the floor and had to go to the hospital to get 7 stitches. My family members also had scratches on their arms and legs, so the whole family went to get vaccinated to be safe. In difficult times like this, IVAC's free tetanus vaccination program is very humane and has practical meaning."

Many other people also faced similar situations, while trying to overcome the consequences of the flood, they were forced to come into contact with mud, stagnant water, broken bricks, tree branches, damaged metal roofs, which could easily lead to injury. Mr. Hoang Manh Tuan (West Nha Trang ward) shared: "While cleaning the house, I stepped on a sharp object so I was very worried about my health. On the morning of November 25, I came here to get an injection, it only took about 10 minutes, about a month later I will come back for the second injection."

According to data from IVAC, on the first day of free tetanus vaccination, the unit vaccinated about 400 people. Of which, 300 people were vaccinated at the SAFPO Nha Trang Vaccination Room, the rest were at the SAFPO Suoi Dau Vaccination Room. On November 25, the number of people coming to get vaccinated at the two vaccination points increased to about 500 - 700 people. In response to the great demand of the people, the vaccination points under IVAC have increased their human resources, reception desks and guidance procedures from the declaration, screening to consultation and free vaccination. At the same time, IVAC mobilized more than 80 employees to participate in supporting the vaccination work to be quick and convenient. Doctor Do Thi Nhan - consultant of SAFPO Nha Trang Vaccination Room, IVAC said: "On November 25 and 26, we temporarily stopped injecting service vaccines, prioritizing free tetanus vaccination for people in flood-affected areas, ensuring that people are vaccinated early and quickly."

In addition to vaccination activities, the Provincial Center for Reproductive Health Care also implemented a program of free prenatal check-ups, ultrasounds and vitamin distribution for pregnant women in areas affected by floods, helping pregnant women monitor their health and prevent nutritional deficiencies after the interruption caused by floods. On November 24 and 25, 15 pregnant women came to the center for examination and received free supplements. Doctor Do Thi Thanh Thuy - Provincial Center for Reproductive Health Care said: "The program will last until the end of November. All pregnant women, at any age, can come for free examination. For those who cannot come, we are ready to provide consultation over the phone."

The free pregnancy check-up and vaccination program after the flood not only helps people protect their health in time, but also shows the care and companionship of the provincial health sector and social forces with people in the most difficult times.

The free tetanus vaccination program will be implemented until December 6 at two locations: SAFPO Nha Trang Vaccination Room (No. 8 Pasteur, Nha Trang Ward) and SAFPO Suoi Dau Vaccination Room (National Highway 1, Suoi Dau Commune). The program of free prenatal examination - ultrasound and vitamin distribution for pregnant women affected by floods will continue until November 30 at the Provincial Reproductive Health Care Center (36 Yet Kieu, Nha Trang Ward).
