On November 19 (local time), during the official visit to Algeria, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Algerian Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb attended the Vietnam - Algeria Economic Forum.
The Vietnam - Algeria Economic Forum (Forum) is co-chaired by the Ministry of Finance of Vietnam and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Algeria; co-organized by the Embassy of Vietnam in Algeria, the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency, and the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The forum was attended by about 350 delegates, including representatives of government agencies and businesses of the two countries.
Expanding cooperation space, connecting 3 continents
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh assessed that the Forum was historic as it received the attention of General Secretary To Lam and Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune; was attended by the two Prime Ministers; took place right after the two countries established a Strategic Partnership; and was attended by a large number of business representatives from the two countries, creating a space for economic cooperation in all fields.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that Algeria has a strategic advantage as a center and gateway connecting three continents: Asia, Europe and Africa; Vietnam has the opportunity to access a domestic market of more than 47 million people and an African market of more than 1 billion people.
The Prime Minister suggested that the two countries could prioritize promoting cooperation in promising areas such as: energy, wind power, solar power, oil refining; fertilizer production; forestry, tea and rice cultivation, animal husbandry, animal feed production; aquaculture and seafood processing, agricultural product export; and semiconductor chip technology.
The Prime Minister hopes that Algeria will consider allocating land to Vietnamese enterprises to develop production and cultivation, and called on the business community to make efforts “with all resources, intelligence and heart”, considering Algeria's interests as Vietnam's own interests.
The Prime Minister also suggested promoting the role of the Vietnam-Algeria Intergovernmental Committee to remove barriers and facilitate investment and trade cooperation. At the same time, further promoting the role of the Vietnam-Algeria Intergovernmental Committee in coordinating economic cooperation.

The Algerian Prime Minister expressed his wish that the business communities of the two countries would strengthen connections, expand trade exchanges and promote cooperation in the fields of technology, agriculture, digital transformation, energy, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals and tourism.
Affirming that Algeria possesses an important strategic position as a gateway to the Middle East, Africa and Europe, the Prime Minister emphasized that Algeria always considers Vietnam a close friend, and Vietnam needs to seize this opportunity. He also called on Algerian investors to proactively negotiate with Vietnamese enterprises to seek specific cooperation directions, thereby increasing the export of key products to the Vietnamese market and expanding the opposite direction.

Also at the event, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Nguyen Hoang Hiep gave an important speech on promoting Vietnam-Algeria agricultural trade and technical cooperation, connecting businesses of the two countries, promoting trade, investment, technology transfer and agricultural supply chain cooperation.

"More than 200 businesses brought agricultural products to display today, although small, but part of the quintessence of Vietnamese agriculture, forestry and fisheries. Those are fragrant sticky rice grains, coffee beans, pepper, cashew nuts that have reached many countries around the world; processed seafood products bearing the mark of diligence, technique and integration spirit", the Ministry leader emphasized.
According to the Deputy Minister, the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Environment is building a South-South Cooperation Partnership Framework and Trilateral Cooperation in the agricultural sector to enhance food security, improve livelihoods and support developing countries, with special priority given to Africa.
He proposed to continue promoting agricultural cooperation with Algeria through the implementation of the Tripartite Cooperation Program (Algeria - Vietnam - FAO) on aquaculture development and food production in the coming time. The two sides should strengthen cooperation in research on drought-resistant crop varieties, water-saving irrigation technology and high-tech agriculture.
In addition, build joint projects on combating desertification, restoring ecosystems and applying solar energy to agricultural production; trade in agricultural products, especially Vietnam's strong products such as rice, coffee, pepper, cashew nuts, and processed seafood products.

Vietnam and Algeria - two countries with a long-standing tradition of friendship - are increasingly aware of the importance of close cooperation, mutual support, experience sharing and sustainable development in areas such as cultivation, animal husbandry, aquaculture and quality management, research and transfer of agricultural technology and plant varieties.
The presence of more than 200 enterprises, including many Vietnamese agricultural enterprises, at the Vietnam - Algeria Economic Forum brought pride and quintessential products representing the persistent and creative labor of Vietnamese farmers.
