On the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the National Great Unity Day, 12 ancient trees in Vu Ninh ward, Bac Ninh province were officially awarded the Vietnam Heritage Tree certificate by the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment (VACNE). The ceremony was attended by many leading experts in the field of environment and biodiversity, along with government representatives and a large number of people.

The recognition ceremony was held this morning, November 22, in Bac Ninh. Photo: Organizing Committee.
Vietnam Heritage Tree is a title given to ancient trees with special historical, cultural, landscape or scientific value. To be recognized, the tree must undergo a rigorous assessment process of age, growth status, level of attachment to the community and ability to be preserved long term.
Each application must be assessed, surveyed and voted on by the Vietnam Heritage Tree Council according to a strict process. Each ancient tree included in the list is a recognition of both the natural and spiritual values that the tree brings.
In this recognition, the group of 12 trees including 11 ruoi trees and one “lover” kapok tree are located in the SenNa Health Care Resort. Few people think that this place (formerly Ong Tu Hill) used to be a bare, rocky and deserted hill, a gathering place for drug addicts.
Over the years, when the land was allocated for management, SenNa planted additional trees and covered the entire area with greenery, creating a population of more than 100 tree species with thousands of individuals, many of which are of considerable age.
The recognition ceremony took place solemnly, opening with an incense offering ceremony and reading of congratulatory messages at the Temple of General Tran Luu - the general who assisted Le Loi in defeating the Ming army in 1427.
After awarding the certificate, Prof. Dr. Dang Huy Huynh, Chairman of the Vietnam Heritage Tree Council, highly appreciated the unit's efforts in landscape restoration and asked SenNa to continue to coordinate with the government to care for, protect and promote the value of the 12 heritage trees that have just been recognized.
CEO Vu Thien Ha, representative of SenNa, expressed his honor when the green tree complex in the campus was recognized and committed to maintaining conservation, towards green, safe and sustainable development.
According to the organizers, the inclusion of 12 ancient trees in the list of Vietnam Heritage Trees contributes to creating a highlight for the ecological space of Bac Ninh. This title has even greater significance at a time of strong urbanization, when each ancient tree protected means preserving a part of the history, landscape and memories of the community.
This is also a message to spread the spirit of preserving trees and biodiversity, especially to young people, who attended the ceremony in large numbers.
