Continuous rain and floods have caused many sections of National Highway 1, especially the section passing through the East of Dak Lak province, to be continuously eroded and deeply flooded. A series of locations from O Loan and Tuy An Nam communes to the section passing through Tuy Hoa ward bypass are flooded, forcing vehicles to move slowly in a queue, even causing prolonged traffic jams.
Faced with the complicated weather conditions, Tuy An Traffic Police Station (Dak Lak Provincial Traffic Police Department) mobilized forces to work 24/7, organize traffic flow and regulation; at the same time, guide vehicles to stop and park in safe locations. Thanks to that, the congestion on the route has been basically resolved, traffic has gradually stabilized, creating favorable conditions for continuous and smooth rescue operations.
According to Road Management Area 3, Vietnam Road Administration, by 4 p.m. on November 22, National Highway 1 had been completely opened to traffic. The location of the erosion hole that caused serious subsidence on National Highway 1 north of Deo Ca tunnel has been repaired and opened to two-way traffic. It is expected that by tonight, the entire damaged road surface will be repaired, helping to reduce congestion on the route.
Previously, on the afternoon of November 21, heavy rain caused National Highway 1 through Dak Lak province to erode and collapse, with a 9-meter wide section of the road surface being gouged deep, creating a large hole. The incident forced authorities to close the road to ensure safety. Because many neighboring roads were also eroded or deeply flooded, drivers had few alternatives and rushed to National Highway 1, causing traffic congestion for dozens of kilometers through Dak Lak.
