Waiting for Thanh Nha to explode

SEA Games 33 is Thanh Nha's third edition. This girl born in 2001 is one of 23 players on the shortlist of the Vietnamese women's team before the gold medal campaign in women's football in Thailand.

Overcoming trauma

Not only beautiful and talented, Thanh Nha also showed a strong will to return to football after an injury from the end of 2024 until now. Playing for the Vietnamese women's team since 2021, Thanh Nha quickly progressed and became an important spearhead in the attack. Her position stands out with her speed and her strong climbing moves.

Thanh Nha contributed to 2 gold medals for the Vietnamese women's team at the 31st and 32nd SEA Games. She was also a prominent factor in the journey of the Vietnamese women's team to compete in the 2022 Asian Cup and the 2023 Women's World Cup. Including a goal scored against Germany in a friendly match.

But unfortunately, Thanh Nha suffered a knee injury and had to stop playing since the end of 2024. For nearly half a year, Thanh Nha has been actively treating and recovering from the injury. As a professional player, everyone is very sad when they get injured and have to take a long break. But for female players, that sadness is many times greater because no matter how strong they are, they are always at a disadvantage compared to male players.

After half a year of not competing and only practicing alone, Thanh Nha experienced many times of loneliness, homesickness, missing her teammates and the ball. However, she overcame everything to complete the recovery process and return on time. And in mid-2025, she was called up to the national team by head coach Mai Duc Chung.

Hope at SEA Games 33

The 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Championship is the first international tournament to mark Thanh Nha's return after injury. At the tournament, Thanh Nha played 5 matches, contributing 1 assist on the journey to help the Vietnamese women's team win the bronze medal. After that, Thanh Nha continued to be on the list of the Vietnamese women's team going to Japan for training and friendly matches. And now, she is preparing to join the team on the journey to conquer the gold medal in Thailand.

From being just a reserve for her seniors, Thanh Nha has now risen to become an important factor in the attack of the Vietnamese women's team. She can even replace the older seniors. For the third time participating, the SEA Games arena is likely to continue to be the stage for the Hanoi girl and her teammates to bring success to the Vietnamese women's team.
