Less than a week after its release in Vietnamese theaters, 'Doraemon: Nobita and the Castle Under the Sea' (Doraemon movie 45) has grossed over 100 billion VND. To date, it is the highest-grossing foreign film at the Vietnamese box office in 2016.

According to Box Office Vietnam data as of noon on May 26th, Doraemon: Nobita and the Castle Under the Sea has grossed over 103 billion VND. This impressive figure includes revenue from the film's official release on May 22nd and earlier screenings. This achievement makes Doraemon Movie 45 the first international film to surpass 100 billion VND at the Vietnamese box office in 2026. This number is predicted to continue to increase significantly in the coming days as the film approaches International Children's Day and the summer holidays.

Previously, Doraemon: Nobita and the Castle Under the Sea created a sensation at the Vietnamese box office with early screenings starting on May 16th, quickly topping the box office with over 15 billion VND in revenue on the first day, breaking the dominance of domestic films for nearly three months. Officially released on May 22nd, the Japanese animated blockbuster has already surpassed 50 billion VND. The film continues to dominate Vietnamese theaters. According to data from Box Office Vietnam, on May 26th alone (until 2:30 PM), this Doraemon animated film grossed nearly 4.5 billion VND, continuing to lead the Vietnamese box office that day.

Doraemon animated films have always held great appeal for Vietnamese audiences. Last year, Doraemon Movie 44 also took Vietnam's theaters by storm, reaching 100 billion VND in just over a week after its release.

Thanks to Doraemon's magical gadgets, the group of five friends enjoy exciting experiences underwater. They accidentally discover a shipwreck and meet a mysterious young man named El, uncovering an undiscovered underwater world and thus beginning a perilous adventure…

Before "sweeping" Vietnamese theaters, Doraemon: Nobita and the Castle Under the Sea created a "seismic" sensation in its home country of Japan when it was released in late February 2026. The film topped the box office charts in Japan for its first six weeks and has currently grossed a total of $25.5 million (according to Box Office Mojo ).
