The iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max duo have had significant camera upgrades compared to the previous versions, including being equipped with a cluster of 3 rear cameras all with a resolution of 48 megapixels, a dual capture feature that allows simultaneous capture/ video recording from the front and rear cameras, the front camera is upgraded to 18 megapixels...
However, many people using the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max duo were surprised to realize that their products lacked a useful photography feature compared to the old versions.

According to user feedback on social networking platforms as well as on Apple's online support website, they discovered that the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max duo can no longer use the night photography feature when choosing portrait mode.
Portrait mode is a widely used photography feature on iPhone, allowing the creation of portrait photos with a blurred background effect and clarifying the subject in the photo, as well as the face of the person being photographed, similar to when taken with a professional camera.
The combination of Night mode and Portrait mode can help create high-quality portrait photos, even when shooting in low light conditions.
This feature is only equipped for the Pro and Pro Max options, first appearing on the iPhone 12 version launched in 2020.
Apple has yet to explain why the night portrait photography feature was removed on the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max duo, but according to Apple's support documents, this feature is supported from the iPhone 12 Pro/12 Pro Max duo to the iPhone 16 Pro/16 Pro Max, meaning it is not available on the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max duo.
The fact that a feature that has been available on the iPhone Pro and Pro Max since 2020 but is cut on the phone model launched in 2025 has made many people feel confused.
It’s likely that this is just a software change, so Apple could potentially restore Night Portrait Mode to the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max via an update. However, this depends on whether the user feedback is big enough to force the company to consider it.
