Under the headlights of specialized vehicles and heavy machinery, forces from the Lam Dong Province Investment and Construction Project Management Board No. 1, along with the construction unit, worked through the night to deal with the serious landslide on Prenn Pass that occurred due to heavy rain on December 4th.
Mr. Pham Ha, a supervisory officer of the Investment and Construction Project Management Board No. 1 of Lam Dong province, said that immediately after receiving information about the landslide, the unit activated the emergency response plan, mobilizing the maximum number of excavators, dump trucks, chainsaws, and other construction equipment to clear the site.
Throughout the night of December 4th and the early morning of December 5th, construction workers continuously cleared hundreds of cubic meters of soil and rocks that had spilled onto the road. Simultaneously, they coordinated with the Provincial Forest Protection Department and forest management units to cut down and remove pine trees on the slope that showed signs of being uprooted and posed a risk of falling at any moment.

Mr. Ha stated that the favorable weather during the night was rain-free, allowing the forces to easily access and handle the site more safely, as well as creating conditions for the construction unit to speed up the progress of clearing soil and rocks, and temporarily reinforcing cracked areas on the slope to limit the risk of secondary landslides.

We are focusing all our efforts on completely resolving the issue and ensuring long-term stability for the road.
Mr. Pham Ha, Supervisory Officer of the Investment and Construction Project Management Board No. 1 of Lam Dong province.
According to a report from the Lam Dong Provincial Department of Construction, from December 2nd to 4th, prolonged heavy rain caused structural damage to the embankment at Km224+600 - Km224+700 on the Prenn Pass road, creating large cracks running along the hillside. A large amount of soil and rocks spilled onto the road surface, completely blocking traffic. More seriously, many pine trees on the embankment were uprooted and tilted significantly towards the road, posing a risk of collapsing onto passing vehicles.

Given the complex situation at the site and to ensure the absolute safety of the public, the Department of Construction has announced traffic diversion and a temporary ban on people and vehicles passing through the landslide area from 1 PM on December 4th until further notice. Traffic management plans are being implemented simultaneously, guiding people to use alternative routes to avoid potential safety hazards.

With many major events in Lam Dong province about to take place, especially during the peak of the year-end tourist season and large-scale cultural and sports activities, ensuring smooth traffic flow on the Prenn Pass - a vital route directly connecting to the Da Lat administrative center - is a top priority.

The project management board leaders affirmed that the construction forces are making maximum efforts, working continuously day and night to shorten the repair time and reopen the road as soon as possible to serve the travel needs of people, tourists, and the organization of events.

Currently, the construction unit is simultaneously implementing several items to reinforce the embankment slopes, treat cracks using anchor drilling and strengthening methods; expand the area for clearing soil and rock to prevent re-landslides; and install a temporary warning system to control safety throughout the construction process. On-site inspections are carried out continuously to detect early changes in geological conditions, thereby allowing for timely adjustments to the remedial plan.
