Tuition exemption for more than 500 students of Khanh Hoa University affected by floods

In addition to direct financial support, Khanh Hoa University also exempted or reduced tuition fees for more than 500 disadvantaged students whose families suffered house damage due to recent storms and floods.

On the evening of December 4, Dr. Phan Phien - Principal of Khanh Hoa University - said that the school has just decided to support 539 students whose families have been affected, suffered damage due to storms, floods, and are in difficulty or orphaned.

At the same time, the school also supported 48 teachers, staff and workers of the school to overcome the consequences of the impact and damage caused by floods.

Of these, 23 teachers and workers whose houses were flooded or severely damaged were supported with 5 million VND/case; 25 people were supported with 2 million VND/case.

Regarding student support, Khanh Hoa University has spent school funds and other funding sources to directly support 143 students whose families suffered losses due to floods and storms.

Of these, 95 students were supported with 4 million VND/student whose family's house completely collapsed (2 students) or whose house and furniture were damaged by storms and floods (87 students) and 16 students were orphans.

There are 48 students receiving support of 3 million VND/case, including 41 students with difficult family circumstances and 7 students whose families were affected by storm No. 13.

The school also waived the tuition fee for the second semester of the current school year for two students whose families had their houses completely collapsed; and reduced the tuition fee for the second semester by 20% for 473 students. Of these, 87 students had their houses and belongings damaged, and 386 students had their houses submerged in the flood.

In addition, right after the recent flood receded, Khanh Hoa University and the University Youth Union also organized for the university's students to participate in many volunteer activities to help people, units, schools, and medical stations in many places in Khanh Hoa province clean up and overcome the consequences of floods.

The school and the Khanh Hoa University Youth Union also supported the Tuoi Tre Newspaper Representative Office in the South Central and Central Highlands regions in preparing and transporting gifts from readers to the mountainous commune of Lien Sang in the old Khanh Vinh district (now Nam Khanh Vinh commune, Khanh Hoa province) to give to students and teachers whose families suffered losses and were severely affected by the recent floods.
