Identifying agriculture as an important pillar for mountainous and rural areas, the province has prioritized resources to complete the infrastructure system serving production. Intra-field transportation, irrigation, and electricity serving cultivation have been invested synchronously, creating conditions for expanding production areas and significantly reducing costs for farmers.
Along with that, the province focuses on converting ineffective crop areas to high-value crops, focusing on breeding, testing and putting into production many varieties suitable for each ecological region. Many key crop varieties such as Phuong Nam early-ripening litchi, Dong Trieu custard apple, Ngoc Thuy tea, yellow flower tea, etc. have built their brands, contributing to improving the competitiveness of local agricultural products.
Currently, the mechanization rate in Quang Ninh's farming reaches over 80%, with tillage machines and combine harvesters in concentrated production areas covering 100% of the area. The productivity of rice, corn and many other key crops has increased steadily, bringing the production value per hectare of cultivated land to over 110 million VND/year, 5 times higher than in 2004. Up to now, the whole province has a key production area of about 6,400 hectares and 50 coded growing areas with an area of over 1,030 hectares, meeting the requirements of traceability and serving export.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Son, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Quang Ninh, said that the province's crop production sector aims to reach a value of 150 million VND/ha/year by 2030. Quang Ninh continues to expand organic and high-tech agriculture, promote chain linkages and digital transformation, towards ecological, efficient and sustainable agriculture.
