According to the announcement, Le Thanh Thuy and Le Minh Thuan are the two athletes assigned to carry the flag for the Vietnamese Sports Delegation at the Opening Ceremony of the 33rd SEA Games. These are exemplary faces in terms of expertise, ethics, and lifestyle and competition.
Le Thanh Thuy, born in 1995, is a mainstay of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team, playing as a middle blocker. She participated in two SEA Games in 2015 and 2017, contributing to the silver and bronze medals for the Vietnamese women's volleyball team in those two games.
She was the volleyball beauty queen at the VTV Cup 2014. For a long time, Le Thanh Thuy was continuously eliminated from the team.
However, with diligence and perseverance in the colors of clubs such as VietinBank and LPBank Ninh Binh, she quickly regained her form.
Since then, Thanh Thuy has become an indispensable part of coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's squad in recent times.
In 2025, Thanh Thuy will make her mark in international competitions with the Vietnamese women's volleyball team, such as winning the AVC Nations Cup 2025, being runner-up in VTV Cup and SEA V-League 2025 (stage 1), winning stage 2 of SEA V-League and participating in the World Championship.
Interestingly, Le Thanh Thuy is often confused with… Tran Thi Thanh Thuy. In fact, apart from having the same name, the two athletes are very different. Le Thanh Thuy plays as a middle blocker and is 1.8m tall. Meanwhile, Tran Thi Thanh Thuy is a main blocker and is over 1.9m tall.
Therefore, fans often use nicknames to distinguish these two girls. Specifically, Le Thanh Thuy is often called "Le Thuy" for short, while Tran Thi Thanh Thuy is called "4T".
