In Lam Dong province, the Langbiang Farm brand of fruits and vegetables has spent over 20 years building and developing a large domestic and export market across tens of hectares, embodying the values of innovation and digital transformation in each of its production plots. According to Mr. Tran Huy Duong, owner of Langbiang Farm, “To successfully implement digital transformation in agriculture , first and foremost, businesses must have a strategic mindset and vision, and determine the right level of investment. Next, they need to consult with national and international digital transformation experts for technical expertise and experience, ensuring a stable, complete, and synchronized infrastructure in terms of databases. Finally, the digital transformation orientation needs continuous improvement and sustainable production practices…”

Significantly, Langbiang Farm chose a digital technology solution that is suitable for the vegetable and fruit cultivation conditions of Lac Duong district and Da Lat city, covering dozens of hectares. According to Mr. Duong, after testing and consideration, Langbiang Farm chose a digital transformation solution with reasonable costs, optimized investment, flexible adjustments, widespread adoption, and high economic efficiency for other agricultural businesses in the area. Specifically, Langbiang Farm uses a digital technology system in all vegetable production processes, from automatic seed sowing to drip irrigation nutrient management, monitoring of care time, growth indicators, and product quality transparency for customers, including GlobalGAP, VietGAP, high-tech agricultural enterprise, and food safety and hygiene certification standards. This process is also a continuous link to the mechanized soil preparation, byproduct collection, and lime sterilization stages at Langbiang Farm before planting each new crop of vegetables and fruits.

“Through continuous improvement and the application of digital technology under the motto ‘Sow quality - Reap love,’ Langbiang Farm always delivers the best products to customers both domestically and internationally,” Mr. Duong affirmed his commitment. To date, in addition to maintaining stable markets in major domestic areas such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Dak Lak, Hai Phong, Da Nang, and Can Tho, Langbiang Farm’s large-scale vegetable and fruit products have expanded their export markets to countries such as the Netherlands, Singapore, South Korea, Myanmar, and Thailand.

Based on the results of applying digital technology and innovation at Langbiang Farm in Lam Dong, and looking at the broader national perspective – according to Dr. Nguyen Nhu Thinh, Vietnam Institute of Vegetable and Fruit Research – the technologies for producing fresh vegetables and fruits for export need to be further refined, applied, and replicated, including water-saving drip irrigation, genetic engineering techniques, creating new disease-resistant varieties, diagnosing plant diseases, plant tissue culture and propagation; hydroponics, aeroponics, and substrate-based cultivation; preservation and processing such as continuous vacuum frying, heat pump drying, freeze-drying, and ultra-fast freezing using liquids…

According to compiled data from Ms. Hoang Mai Van Anh, Program Coordinator of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), in 2024, the largest market for Vietnamese fruit and vegetable exports was China, accounting for nearly 64.8%. The next largest markets were the United States (over 5%), South Korea (4.4%), Thailand (nearly 4%), and Japan (over 2.8%). The remaining 19% was distributed among other countries. To further diversify the export markets for high-value Vietnamese fruits and vegetables, Coordinator Hoang Mai Van Anh suggested strengthening the application of advanced farming and plant protection technologies, publishing annual residue monitoring data, improving compliance with product quality standards, establishing competitive export value chains, and developing national quality infrastructure to support exports.

In particular, regarding the key solutions for boosting the export of Vietnamese vegetables and fruits, Ms. Hoang Mai Van Anh emphasized: “Developing large-scale concentrated raw material areas, encouraging smart, organic, and circular agricultural production. Strengthening the application of science and technology, using high-yield, high-quality seeds that are adaptable to climate change, and practicing sustainable intensive farming; ensuring food safety, reducing post-harvest losses; increasing the percentage of products meeting GAP and organic safety certification standards; increasing the rate of deep processing…”.
