When you visit Sa Huynh, remember to try steamed squid with ginger.

A friend from afar called to ask, "What delicious food should I eat in Sa Huynh?" Without hesitation, I immediately replied, "Squid." A few days later, I received a message: "Sa Huynh squid is indescribably delicious. The land and people here are truly fascinating."

You're not alone; many people are fascinated by exploring the countryside located in the southeastern part of Quang Ngai province. Legend says that in the past, this place was called Sa Hoang, with its blue sea and golden sandy shores, where waves have been lapping for millennia. Because it shared the same name as Lord Nguyen Hoang, the place name Sa Hoang was changed to Sa Huynh.

Upon arriving here, you might encounter elderly people with sun-tanned, weather-beaten skin. They will introduce you to interesting destinations connected to the ancient Sa Huynh people from thousands of years ago. And they won't forget to suggest you try delicious dishes made from seafood caught in the salty sea. Among them are delicacies made from squid, a mollusk with tentacles that wiggle as it moves through the water.

Sa Huynh beach, with its pristine and romantic scenery, captivates travelers. Hidden within the dreamy blue waters are rocky outcrops near the shore. Some are massive, stretching like mountain ranges, with jagged rocks covered in moss and algae. Countless large and small rocks are piled on top of each other, creating caves and crevices like mountains on land. This is the habitat and breeding ground for squid, octopus, and many other types of seafood. Local fishermen have many ways to catch squid: angling, diving, netting, and using cages... The squid, caught from the sea and placed in buckets of saltwater, remain alive, their skin shimmering like glitter, their tentacles wriggling as if searching for prey.

The boat turned towards the shore, and the fishermen excitedly looked at the buckets filled with a considerable amount of squid. They sold the live squid to locals, tourists from afar, and seaside restaurants. Visitors could buy squid and have it prepared at a restaurant, or order delicious dishes made from squid that the restaurant had already stocked. Fresh squid tastes good boiled, grilled, fried, stir-fried, or steamed...

Many people enjoy the flavorful steamed squid with ginger. Diners pick up a piece of squid, dip it into the chili sauce, and slowly chew. The squid is crispy, its sweetness blends with the mildly salty and slightly spicy chili sauce, creating a delightful sensation on the tongue. The ginger is fragrant and subtly spicy, and the cilantro has a strong garden aroma that captivates diners. Dip a slice of pineapple or cucumber into the chili sauce and savor the unforgettable aftertaste… Eating steamed squid with ginger while gazing at the blue sea and golden sand, and feeling the cool breeze is simply unparalleled.

Many visitors who have been to Sa Huynh always look forward to returning. This is because the place offers delicious dishes made from squid freshly caught from the sea, picturesque scenery, and fascinating aspects of the Sa Huynh culture dating back approximately 3,000 years.
