Remove obstacles, reduce worries about flooding.

For many years, the people of Thai Nguyen have witnessed each heavy rainstorm become a test for urban infrastructure. Some bustling central streets are suddenly submerged in water. These seemingly fleeting situations not only cause inconvenience for a few hours but gradually become a constant worry whenever it rains, especially during heavy downpours...

Significantly, these inconveniences are no longer just natural disasters, but a warning that urban areas are under pressure from man-made impacts. Therefore, the recent directive from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Vuong Quoc Tuan, to urgently dismantle structures encroaching on drainage areas has received widespread support from the public.

This is a short-term solution to remove bottlenecks and restore the natural flow of the drainage system in the central area of the province. Water can only "go its way" when its space is kept clear.

A wall built encroaching a few dozen centimeters, a concrete slab placed over a drain, or a narrowed section of a ditch… all can slow down and cause water to back up during heavy rains. The consequence is that cities pay the price with flooding, pollution, and disruption to the lives of thousands of residents.

Along with clearing visible obstructions, the province will launch a short-term intensive campaign to dredge and clear the drainage system and address urgent bottlenecks. This is a complex task as it involves many residential areas. However, the resolute leadership shows that the government is focusing on addressing key immediate issues, creating the necessary foundation for implementing longer-term solutions in the future.

However, flooding is difficult to solve once and for all without the collective effort of the community. Many bottlenecks actually stem from seemingly small habits in daily life: waste inadvertently blocking drainage outlets, small objects clogging drains, or sections of ditches being misused. When drainage space is not considered a shared asset, technical measures are unlikely to achieve lasting effectiveness.

Everyone desires a clean and well-ventilated city, and this can only become a reality when each individual contributes to that common goal. A well-functioning drainage system will help reduce flooding, limit pollution, and maintain the urban rhythm that has been disrupted in the past.

Therefore, during the upcoming peak period, we hope that each of us will cooperate with the authorities, facilitate the construction work, comply with demolition regulations, and maintain cleanliness in our living areas.

Flooding is not an invariable problem. When order is restored, obstacles are removed, and everyone works together to maintain the drainage system, the water will have its own "path." Then, heavy rains will become less of a worry and less likely to disrupt people's daily lives.
