Bodo/Glimt are the biggest surprise of this year's tournament.

Bodo/Glimt is the lowest-rated club in this season's Europa League quarter-finals. According to Transfermarkt , the Norwegian club's squad is valued at only €43.15 million.

Conversely, Lazio was the team with the best form during the League Phase, and also possessed a squad with a total value of nearly 300 million euros. However, the difference in squad strength did not help the Serie A representative secure a place in the semi-finals.

After a 0-2 defeat in the first leg away from home, Lazio played well at home and scored two goals against Bodo/Glimt, courtesy of Taty Castellanos (21') and Tijjani Noslin (90+3'). After regular time, the aggregate score was 2-2, forcing the two teams into extra time.

In the 100th minute of extra time, Boulaye Dia shone to give Lazio a 3-0 lead. Just when it seemed their qualification was secure, the Olimpico Stadium side conceded a goal to Bodo/Glimt in the 109th minute. The two halves of regular and extra time ended with a 3-1 scoreline. At this point, the aggregate score after two legs was 3-3.

Lazio were dragged into a penalty shootout, where they had three players miss their penalties. Conversely, Bodo/Glimt only missed two.

Ultimately, the underdog team from Norway won 3-2, securing their place in the semi-finals against Tottenham. Meanwhile, Lazio missed out on the European Cup semi-final spot they had been hoping for for over two decades.
