A survey shows that the prices of some popular items are as follows: leashes range from 20,000 to 250,000 VND depending on material and style; food bowls from 50,000 to 150,000 VND/piece; clothing sets from 50,000 to 350,000 VND/set; and toys from 50,000 to 150,000 VND/item. Pet food in pellet form costs between 150,000 and 300,000 VND per bag, while pate-type pet food costs 50,000 to 70,000 VND per can… These products are not only domestically produced but also imported from the US, Japan, Australia, Thailand, and China… Ms. Pham Thi Thao from Nam Truc district said: “I raise pet dogs and cats, so I often visit pet supply stores. Pet accessories are very diverse and have beautiful designs.”

Besides stalls selling fashion items, accessories, and toys, pet grooming and care services such as massage, trimming, bathing, nail trimming, and ear cleaning are also attracting many customers. During the hot season, services like bathing and trimming for pets are particularly popular. Mr. Nguyen Duc Trieu, owner of the Xu Kem pet supermarket on Hang Thao Street (Nam Dinh city), said: “Currently, due to the hot weather, many customers bring their pets for bathing, trimming, and even shaving to ensure they stay clean and free from fur-related diseases. On average, my establishment receives 10-15 pets daily for these services.” Ms. Pham Thi Thuy (Nam Dinh city) shared: “In cool weather, I only take my dog to the groomer once or twice a week, and I mostly bathe and shampoo at home. But when the hot season comes, I take my dog to the shop every few days for bathing and grooming. The price at the shop ranges from 200,000 to 400,000 VND per visit, depending on size; bathing alone costs from 50,000 to 200,000 VND per visit.” Besides that, veterinary services and pet care are also of great interest to many customers. Most clinics have complete equipment and services for examining and treating pets, such as testing, ultrasound, and surgery. There are cases of dogs with broken bones from being hit by motorbikes or cars; there are cases of dogs and cats giving birth or undergoing cesarean sections... brought to the clinic for veterinary care and treatment. Even after the animals are born, their owners take them to get vaccinated against diseases.
