One of the highlights of this year's market fair is the rich series of musical performances, harmoniously blending traditional elements with modern influences. Throughout the program, performances by numerous artists, bands, and community groups create a vibrant sonic tapestry. Besides folk and traditional music performances, viewers can also enjoy guitar and violin duets, violin solos, and acoustic band performances. Particularly noteworthy are the DJ sets, group Latin dances, and children's musical performances, contributing to a youthful atmosphere and connecting generations within the same market fair space.
Alongside music, the Tan Thanh local market also introduces various health tourism experiences, a trend gaining popularity among tourists seeking destinations rich in cultural identity. Here, participants can experience TokSen massage therapy combined with traditional Eastern medicine hammering, and aromatherapy. These activities are organized in a gentle, intimate manner, focusing on mental relaxation and energy balance, perfectly suited to the open coastal space of Tan Thanh. According to Mr. Le Quoc Viet, representative of the Tan Thanh fishing village tourism cooperative, incorporating health care activities into the market not only enriches the program but also contributes to promoting Hoi An as a resort and healing destination where tourists can find peace amidst modern life.
Another area that attracts a large number of participants is the experiential workshop zone, where traditional cultural values are recreated through hands-on activities. Here, locals and tourists can participate in printing Dong Ho folk paintings, making lucky money envelopes, crafting handmade hair clips, or sharing their love of books and reading culture with members of the Hoi An Reading Club. Workshops are scheduled at various times, allowing participants to actively choose the experience that suits them best. These activities encourage participants to "touch" and "do" rather than simply "watch," thereby gaining a deeper understanding of the value of traditional crafts and customs in Vietnamese Tet (Lunar New Year) life.
Furthermore, the market maintains activities throughout the day such as folk games, performances by traditional music bands, and traditional food stalls, contributing to a warm and familiar Tet atmosphere. The familiar images of spring feasts, folk music, and the vibrant colors of traditional handicrafts blended in an open space have transformed Tan Thanh market from just a place for buying and selling into a cultural meeting point where the community can share memories, experiences, and the joy of the new year.
Mr. Le Quoc Viet stated that the event aims to revive the unique image of Tan Thanh market, which has been temporarily closed. Simultaneously, with a focus on highlighting local values, Tan Thanh market is gradually asserting its role as a distinctive cultural and tourism product of Hoi An. The event is expected to offer visitors an authentic and vibrant glimpse into the Tet (Lunar New Year) atmosphere and the interplay between tradition and modern life.
