Strava, the sports platform with over 195 million global users, has officially added support for Vietnamese along with nine other languages in an update released on March 25th.

"With the addition of new languages, Strava is becoming more global than ever, allowing users to fully experience the platform in their own language," said Louisa Wee, Chief Marketing Officer of Strava.

Ms. Wee added that this is an important step in the international growth strategy. This strategy includes regional cooperation, building a localized content library, and implementing specific programs for each market this year.

Users in Vietnam can switch to the Vietnamese interface in two ways. The simplest way is to set your phone's language to Vietnamese. Strava will automatically adjust to the system language. If your phone is currently using a different language, iPhone users can go to Settings, select the Strava app, and manually change the language.

Free accounts offer a full localized experience, including tracking over 50 fitness activities and connecting with a community in Vietnamese. Paid accounts unlock additional advanced features such as personalized workout suggestions, route planning tools, and in-depth data. Paid users can also participate in challenges and competitions specific to each market.

Strava is a sports app launched in 2009 in San Francisco, USA. More than just a distance tracking app, the platform is like a sports social network where users share their activities, receive congratulations from friends, and compete on shared routes. Globally, approximately 51 million activities are uploaded to Strava each week. The community aspect is the reason users stay engaged longer compared to typical sports apps.

The platform supports over 50 types of activities, from running and cycling to yoga and mountain climbing. The app works on both iOS and Android, and integrates with devices such as Apple Watch, Garmin, and Fitbit.

The move to support the Vietnamese language shows that Strava is focusing on expanding in Southeast Asia, a region with a rapidly growing community of activists.
