The model of growing large apples by farmers in Chon village, Muong Bu commune.

Welcoming us at the commune headquarters, Mr. Phung Manh Hiep, Secretary of the Party Committee of Muong Bu Commune, informed us: Muong Bu Commune was established on the basis of merging the communes of Ta Bu, Muong Bu, and Muong Chum, with an area of 213.65 km² and a population of over 25,000 people. During the past term, under the leadership of the Party Committee and the commune government, Muong Bu has made breakthroughs in its economy . Agriculture has strongly transformed from small-scale production to commodity production, with fruit tree development as the spearhead, bringing stable income and improving the lives of the people.

Muong Bu currently has over 3,400 hectares of various fruit trees, with an annual production of approximately 14,270 tons. Local people focus on organic farming and ensuring safe production according to VietGAP standards. They have established two high-quality growing areas and export-certified growing areas for longan and mango. The commune has 13 cooperatives linking with thousands of households inside and outside the province for production and processing. Furthermore, in Cup village, Musa Green Joint Stock Company has invested 15 billion VND in an agricultural processing system capable of preserving 4,000-6,000 tons of agricultural products annually; producing 1 million cubic meters of banana fiber and processing 5 tons of bananas daily to make banana flour, creating jobs for 60 local workers.

In the livestock sector, farmers have proactively shifted to large-scale, concentrated farming. The total number of livestock and poultry in the commune is nearly 11,000 buffaloes and cows; over 11,000 pigs; nearly 5,200 goats; and more than 90,000 poultry. Many effective models have been replicated, notably the model of raising cattle in enclosed pens combined with grass cultivation in Ket and Ta Bung villages. Currently, CMC Muong La Joint Stock Company is investing in a farm raising 3,600 breeding pigs and 200 breeding boars in Tom village, promoting large-scale livestock farming and creating local jobs for the people.

The road in Muong Kham village, Muong Bu commune, has been paved with asphalt.

Planning and construction investment have seen significant improvements. General planning projects have been completed, providing a basis for management and development. Land management and construction order have been strengthened. Many key infrastructure projects have received investment, such as upgrading Provincial Road 116 and constructing dozens of kilometers of standard concrete roads within villages. Land clearance for large projects, such as the Nam Pan 5 and 6 hydropower plants, has been implemented effectively, contributing to changing the rural landscape and promoting local socio-economic development.

Mr. Lu Van Qui, Chairman of the People's Committee of Muong Bu Commune, shared: The commune's Party Committee is focusing on implementing three breakthroughs: building a high-quality team of officials, training skilled workers, and aiming for labor export; promoting the application of science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation; and improving infrastructure, building the commune center into a bright, green, clean, and beautiful urban area, while upgrading inter-village and inter-regional transportation systems to boost the economy.

To effectively fulfill its assigned tasks, the People's Committee of the commune is promoting the transformation of agriculture into a smart, high-tech sector to improve the quality of mangoes and longan. Priority is given to building brands and expanding markets through modern distribution channels. Tourism and services are being developed in conjunction with exploiting the local natural and cultural advantages. Improvements are being made to the investment environment, administrative procedures are being streamlined, startups are being supported, and the quality of human resources is being enhanced. All development activities are linked to the protection of resources and the environment, aiming for sustainable development.

With comprehensive development orientations encompassing economy, infrastructure, and social welfare, Muong Bu is gradually realizing its goal of becoming a "bright, green, clean, beautiful, safe, civilized, culturally rich, and sustainably developed" commune, bringing prosperity and happiness to its people.
