The clash between Skylighter Fireworks (Australia) and Macedos Pirotecnia (Portugal) not only concluded the qualifying round but also opened up inspiring glimpses of aspiration, innovation, and the future told through the language of light.
The appeal of DIFF 2026 continues to be confirmed as all tickets for the fifth night of the competition were sold out before the opening ceremony. Due to the strong demand from locals and tourists, the Organizing Committee decided to open the A4 grandstand with over 2,000 seats for this night of the competition instead of waiting until the final night as originally planned.
Not only were the main stands packed from very early on, but the roads along the Han River, Dragon Bridge, Tran Thi Ly Bridge, and other locations continued to be crowded with people. The ripple effect of DIFF also spread the festive atmosphere throughout the city with a series of vibrant art, food, and tourism activities from Ba Na Hills to My Khe Beach, making Da Nang the most attractive summer destination in Central Vietnam.
Australia inspires with music , Portugal asserts its status as a creative "champion".
The DIFF 2026 qualifying round concluded with a competition between two teams with distinct identities. The team from Australia – Skylighter Fireworks – presented a fireworks display telling a story of aspiration, courage, and the unwavering spirit of pushing boundaries. Accompanying the performance were a series of famous songs by world- renowned artists such as Coldplay, Bon Jovi, and Avicii, creating an emotional journey from gentle and inspiring to explosive climax.

With each melody, the sky over the Han River continuously transformed with layers of colorful fireworks. Sharp clusters of white stars, soft golden-green streaks, dazzling rainbow effects, chased comet sequences, and continuous bursts of fireworks created a visually rich and energetic spectacle. The climax was reached with synchronized fireworks covering the sky, conveying a message of aspiration and faith in the future.
Meanwhile, Macedos Pirotecnia from Portugal returned to Da Nang after winning the "Most Innovative" award at DIFF 2025, determined to surpass their own previous achievements. This year's performance was designed as a declaration of "Vision," where light became a symbol of connection and guidance towards the future. The fireworks were deployed with high density, constantly changing rhythms, combining traditional Portuguese fireworks effects such as high-altitude projectiles, comet fireworks, Roman candle fireworks, and stream fireworks... along with many modern techniques to create layers of light cascading across the sky.

The fireworks displays are synchronized with the music, combining multiple firing points to create emotionally charged climaxes before concluding with dazzling titanium fireworks illuminating the entire Han River.
Beyond their impressive technical skills, the two teams also offered two different perspectives on the theme of "Vision": one showcasing Australia's spirit of breakthrough and big dreams; the other highlighting Portugal's artistic depth and storytelling ability through light.
"I really liked how the Australian team chose songs that are familiar to international audiences. The music naturally evoked emotions, and the fireworks seemed to continue the story of each melody, " shared Nguyen Duc Thanh, a tourist from Hanoi.
Meanwhile, Ms. Tran Hai Yen (Ho Chi Minh City) commented: "Portugal still maintained its very unique style. The fireworks were dense, layered, and the climax was constantly building, giving the audience almost no break. This was truly a worthy night to conclude the qualifying round."
The grand music festival spreads aspirations towards the future.
Beyond the fireworks, the fifth night of the competition continued to deliver a vibrant music festival along the Han River. The highlight of the artistic program was the appearance of Duc Phuc, one of the leading voices in V-pop today. With his two songs "More Than Love" and "My Dear, Don't Leave," the male singer created an emotionally rich musical atmosphere, collaborating with the Trung Vuong and MTE dance troupes to create a stage performance that was both modern and deeply rooted in Vietnamese culture.

The atmosphere was further heightened with Lia Ngoc Nhung's performance of "Titanium." Her powerful vocals and strong staging conveyed a message of resilience, willpower to overcome challenges, and the aspiration to conquer new limits – perfectly embodying the theme "Vision."

The performances of "Abracadabra" and "Bandeira Em Festa" brought a youthful, international vibe, before the show concluded with "Radiant Dreams," a message of a bright future and faith in the grand finale.
After five nights of competition, DIFF 2026 continues to affirm its position as the leading fireworks festival in the region and Asia's summer destination, rightfully earning its place as one of the 9 most worthwhile festivals on the planet, as selected by the world's leading travel magazine, Travel + Leisure. With the support of Sun Group, DIFF not only delivers world-class fireworks displays but also creates a space for cultural, musical, and artistic exchange, where each night tells its own unique story through light.
Contributing to the festival's success were major sponsors such as Vietnam Airlines and Bizman Media (Diamond sponsors), Chicilon Media (media sponsor), and many other reputable partners such as Pacific Airlines, Hai Tran Media & Airs Group, and the Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV).
Concluding the qualifying rounds with a series of explosive performances, DIFF 2026 now enters its most anticipated phase. The grand finale on July 11th will bring together the two best teams of the season in a final competition to conquer the championship, promising the most spectacular fireworks display of the season so far and concluding a DIFF season that is considered the most emotional, creative, and successful in the festival's history.
