According to reporters, many accommodations in Phu Quoc are currently fully booked, especially during the peak Tet holiday season and continuing until the end of March 2026.
The number of visitors to Phu Quoc Island has increased sharply, mainly from international tourists from Russia, Eastern Europe, China, Mongolia, India, South Korea, etc. The increased demand for accommodation has led many hotels and resorts to reach maximum occupancy very early. To accommodate the surge in visitors, many tourist areas and attractions have begun to beautify their landscapes, decorate with Tet-themed decorations, and create photo-taking spaces for tourists.
A manager of a 3-star resort on Tran Hung Dao Street (Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone) said that occupancy during Tet (Lunar New Year) had reached 100%, with all 93 rooms booked.
According to this source, this year's international tourist season started early, around October 20th, and is expected to last until mid-April 2026, instead of ending in mid-March as in previous years. This is considered a positive sign, indicating that the Phu Quoc tourism market is gradually recovering after a prolonged period of stagnation. Although occupancy rates are at maximum, room prices have not increased dramatically because many hotels and resorts have signed long-term contracts with partners in advance.

Despite positive signs regarding tourist numbers, the issue of human resources remains a major challenge for tourism businesses. During the peak Tet holiday season, many hotels, entertainment venues, and restaurants face labor shortages, as many employees switch to seasonal work with more flexible income. To maintain operations, existing staff must rotate through multiple positions, work overtime, and support each other.
Phu Quoc's appeal stems from the demand for "winter escapes" from European tourists and the 30-day visa-free policy for many countries. Besides its natural advantages, the modern entertainment complexes, diverse culinary offerings, and unique local culture also contribute to making Phu Quoc an attractive destination at the beginning of the new year.
Phu Quoc International Airport reported that the total number of flights to and from the airport during this year's Tet holiday increased by approximately 50% compared to the previous Tet (an average of 75 flights per day). On the busiest days, the airport served 80-84 flights per day. The number of passengers during Tet is expected to exceed 720,000, with both domestic and international flights showing an increase.

Faced with the pressure of increased passenger and flight volumes, Phu Quoc Port has developed operational plans, ranging from supplementing personnel and equipment to reviewing procedures; strengthening coordination with airlines to minimize congestion at check-in counters, screening areas, and baggage conveyor belts. Simultaneously, health monitoring and disease prevention measures, including those related to the risk of Nipah disease, have been tightened.
Mr. Bui Quoc Thai, Director of the An Giang Provincial Department of Tourism, said that Tet (Lunar New Year) is always the peak season for Phu Quoc. The Department of Tourism has requested tourist attractions and service businesses in the area to proactively develop well-planned and thoughtful Tet service plans. The Phu Quoc authorities have also intensified efforts to beautify the landscape, ensure security and order, traffic safety, and environmental hygiene. Units have deployed personnel on duty, ready to assist and promptly handle any feedback from tourists throughout the peak period.

In particular, the Department of Tourism emphasized the requirement for service providers to publicly display service prices in accordance with regulations. Absolutely no price gouging, unfair pricing, or overcharging should occur, as this would negatively impact the image of the destination.
During the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026, a series of products, shows, and festival spaces in Phu Quoc will continue to be invested in and upgraded, contributing to extending the length of stay and increasing spending of tourists.
