Authorities and people participate in building dikes to prevent floods in Quyet Thang commune, Son Duong district, Tuyen Quang province.
On the night of September 10, about 10m of the Lo River dike broke in Quyet Thang commune, Son Duong district, Tuyen Quang province - the area bordering Hop Nhat commune, Doan Hung district.
Comrade Nguyen Van Van - Chairman of Doan Hung District People's Committee said: Immediately after the incident, hundreds of people and functional forces of the two localities urgently moved bags of soil to the location of the broken dike. Many trucks carrying rocks and excavators were also mobilized to the scene to respond to the incident. In particular, Doan Hung district mobilized the police, military and local forces of about 200 - 300 people with excavators and trucks to support the evacuation of people and property of 20 households in Ho Xanh area and participate in building dikes to prevent floods.
Hop Nhat is a riverside commune, merged from 3 communes Phu Thu, Huu Do, Dai Nghia, so it is directly affected by the flood of Lo River. On the afternoon of September 10, the entire Hop Nhat commune had evacuated 42 households, including 36 households in Van Tap village, 7 households in Lo River area and Thong Nhat area. Because the evacuation of people in the affected area was carried out early, there were no human casualties.
However, due to the complicated developments of the flood situation and rising water levels, people and authorities are constantly on duty and promptly build additional embankments in high-risk areas to prevent further dike breaks.
At 10:00 p.m. on September 10, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Doan Hung district issued alert number 3 to the communes of Phu Lam, Hung Xuyen, Van Du, Chi Dam, Hop Nhat, Doan Hung town, Soc Dang, Hung Long, Vu Quang and Doan Hung Irrigation Enterprise, requesting the deployment of forces, materials, and means, increasing patrols and guarding, detecting any damage to dykes, embankments, and culverts and taking timely measures. At the same time, report all situations to the Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of the district for timely handling when situations arise.
