New recruits in Ba Dinh district officially set off to join the army.
Starting at 8 a.m., the military enlistment process began simultaneously in all districts and counties of Hanoi . Despite the cold, rainy weather, all the new recruits were ready to leave for military service.
According to the plan, in 2024, Hanoi is tasked with selecting and enlisting 3,700 citizens for military service (an increase of 200 citizens compared to 2023); and 794 citizens for service in the People's Public Security Force.
Ahead of the 2024 conscription day, nearly 1,000 young men in Hanoi have volunteered to join the army.

Ba Vi district has 246 local young men who are enlisting for military service. At the send-off ceremony, General Luong Cuong - Head of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army; and Hanoi City Party Secretary Dinh Tien Dung attended the handover ceremony in Ba Vi district.
Speaking on behalf of the new recruits at the ceremony, recruit Le Cong Hoang Anh (Thuy An commune, Ba Vi district) pledged absolute loyalty to the revolutionary cause of the Party, overcoming all difficulties and hardships, fighting and sacrificing for the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
"We pledge to diligently study and train to enhance our political acumen, revolutionary moral qualities, and work capacity, ready to accept and successfully complete the tasks assigned by the army, police, and unit, worthy of the title of Ho Chi Minh's soldiers, the People's Police officers, and worthy of the trust and love of the Party Committee, government, and people of Ba Vi district," said new recruit Le Cong Hoang Anh.
Mr. Tran Quoc Dat (Ba Dinh district, Hanoi) is determined to complete his task well.
Earlier that morning, at the Quan Ngua Sports Palace, 74 new recruits from Ba Dinh district officially set off to join the army.
As one of the young men who volunteered for military service, Tran Quoc Dat (Kim Ma ward, Ba Dinh district, Hanoi) expressed that enlisting is a responsibility and duty for himself and other young people.
"At first, I was quite worried because the military environment is completely different from life outside. But everyone kept saying, 'It only takes two years to go, but not going is a waste of a lifetime,' so I really wanted to go and experience it," Quoc Dat shared.
Relatives and friends braved the rain to see off the new recruits as they departed for military service.
As he bid farewell to three close friends who were enlisting in the army, Hoang Chi Bach (Dong Da district, Hanoi) urged them to take care of their health, complete their duties well, and promised to welcome them back after their discharge two years later.
The new recruits were presented with flowers and walked through the Gate of Glory before boarding vehicles to their unit.

Lieutenant General Nguyen Quoc Duyet, commander of the Hanoi Capital Command, said that Hanoi has 52 new Party members who have enlisted in the military, supplementing the Party Committee of the Army. Another notable point is that for every four new recruits, one has graduated from university or college.
In Hanoi, 2,425 citizens with university, college, or vocational high school degrees are eligible for military service, reaching 65.5% of the assigned recruitment target. All localities organized Party awareness training courses for outstanding young people who applied to participate. The city aims to recruit 15 new Party members before the enlistment date.
