Like many other primary healthcare facilities, the Quang Tan Commune Health Station previously faced the problem of patients bypassing lower-level hospitals. The fear of the quality of primary healthcare led people to prefer going directly to district or provincial hospitals for even minor illnesses. This not only overloaded higher-level facilities but also wasted people's time and money. However, the Quang Tan Commune Health Station is gradually overcoming this difficult problem thanks to fundamental reforms.

Dr. Duong Nhu Khang, Director of Quang Tan Commune Health Station, said: “With the health station being transferred to the direct management of the Commune People's Committee, the role of grassroots health care has been more clearly defined within the local political system. The Commune People's Committee has paid attention to and provided direct guidance, promptly resolving difficulties and creating conditions for us to be more proactive in organizing activities, linking health work with the socio-economic development tasks of the locality.”
The Quang Tan Commune Health Station works closely with village heads and social collaborators to review the health status of each individual, from the elderly, people with disabilities, and those with chronic diseases to pregnant women and children. Home-based health counseling and regular monitoring activities are consistently maintained, creating a robust healthcare network.
One of the highlights of healthcare in Quang Tan commune recently has been the effective implementation of the "Journey Through the First 2,000 Days of Life" project. Recognizing that the first 2,000 days (from pregnancy to the child's age of 5) are the "golden window" that determines a child's stature, physical strength, and intelligence, the commune's health station has actively carried out communication activities, cleverly integrating them into expanded immunization programs and regular health check-ups. Here, scientific knowledge such as safe pregnancy care, exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6 months, and scientifically sound supplementary diets are conveyed to the people through visual aids and easily understandable language.

In addition, the Quang Tan Commune Health Station collaborates with various organizations to implement the motto "going door to door" to households lacking access to healthcare services and children at risk of malnutrition, in order to provide counseling. Thanks to this persistent effort, the awareness of parents in Quang Tan commune has changed significantly. By the end of 2025, the vaccination rate in the commune reached 98.5%, affirming the people's trust in the grassroots healthcare system.
As someone directly involved in the community, Mr. Hoang Van Ha, a staff member at the Quang Tan Commune Health Station, shared: “Going directly to people's homes to provide advice, conduct examinations, and monitor their health helps us understand the people better and keep a close eye on the health situation of each household. Initially, some people were hesitant, but after thorough explanations and guidance, everyone was very enthusiastic, trusting, and cooperative.”
Not only healthcare workers, but also the people have clearly felt this change. Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai (32 years old, Quang Tan commune) happily shared: “Before, I was very worried about raising young children; whenever my child got sick, I immediately thought of taking them to a higher-level hospital. But now, following the commune's health station's fanpage, I see regular updates on disease prevention for children, and the staff from the station come to my house to advise me on how to care for my child during the first 2,000 days of life. I feel very reassured.”
Despite the specific challenges of its large geographical area and complex transportation in some villages, the Quang Tan Commune Health Station, with its sense of responsibility and correct direction, is increasingly affirming its role. The efforts of the medical staff here have built strong trust among the people, contributing to strengthening and enhancing the effectiveness of the province's grassroots healthcare system.
