“Recently, I accessed and scanned a special issue of Viet Thuong newspaper, dated November 4, 1930, which is currently preserved at the Central Party Office Archives. This is a handwritten newspaper of the Thua Thien Provincial Party Committee, published secretly as revolutionary propaganda material,” journalist Duong Phuoc Thu shared.

Throughout those 100 years, Hue's press has consistently accompanied political, economic, and cultural events, not only at the local level but also at the national level. Through the press, the people clearly see that Hue is participating with the rest of the country in a common endeavor.

New opportunities and challenges

The Ho Chi Minh Museum in Hue City is currently exhibiting a special theme, "Hue Journalism in the Flow of Vietnamese Revolutionary Journalism," featuring over 200 artifacts, documents, and images related to the history of patriotic and revolutionary journalism in Hue.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Nam, President of the Hue City Journalists Association and Director of Hue Radio and Television Station, said that the exhibition, organized to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam's Revolutionary Press Day, consists of three parts: Journalist Ho Chi Minh - The founder and trainer of Vietnam's revolutionary press; Hue's press in the flow of Vietnam's revolutionary press; and Hue's press after 1975.

The exhibition helps the public identify journalistic publications, revolutionary historical events, and Vietnamese grammar and structure from each period...

At the same time, it contributes to affirming the contributions of patriotic and revolutionary journalism in Hue; helping the younger generation better understand the development process and role of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism in general, and patriotic and revolutionary journalism in Hue in particular...

Comrade Nguyen Khoa Diem, former member of the Politburo, former Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party, and former Head of the Central Committee's Ideology and Culture Department, believes that journalists must have profound aspirations and ideals.

Exactly one century has passed since the first issue of the Thanh Nien (Youth) newspaper , founded by Nguyen Ai Quoc - President Ho Chi Minh, was published on June 21, 1925, abroad. The history of the national press has gone through countless ups and downs and has become an important part of the revolutionary cause, a sharp weapon in the struggle for national independence and reunification.

According to Comrade Nguyen Khoa Diem, those working in the field of journalism are facing new opportunities and challenges, new pressures, and the development of journalism is always a mandatory imperative of life.

The need for development coupled with the protection of the press is becoming increasingly urgent. The people desire a rich and healthy press that is on par with the great cause of the nation and plays a leading role in that cause.

Comrade Nguyen Khoa Diem believes that a journalist who wants to maintain credibility and contribute to society needs a strong rational mind; a heart devoted to objective truth, a determination to fight for the truth, and not to back down in the face of any pressure.
