In addition to casualties and damage to infrastructure, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) also issued an urgent notice to temporarily suspend all operations at General Santos International Airport to assess the safety of infrastructure and navigation equipment. This decision resulted in the immediate cancellation of at least 17 domestic flights, and passengers were advised to contact their airlines directly for schedule updates.
Regarding the tsunami warning, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center declared that the threat has essentially passed five hours after activation. The tsunami waves, which were approximately 1 meter high, recorded at Sultan Kudarat and Sarangani were confirmed to have caused no further casualties or damage.
Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said the government is focusing all resources on rescue efforts and emergency response.
