Dong Thap province has 100% of its communes meeting the standards of the New Rural Development program.

On June 29th, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Thap province solemnly organized a ceremony to announce the Prime Minister's Decision recognizing Dong Thap province as having completed the task of building new rural areas in 2024.

Attending the ceremony were Comrade Le Minh Hoan, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly ; Secretary of the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee Le Quoc Phong; Chairman of the Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee Tran Tri Quang; and other leaders and former leaders of the province from various periods.

At the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Le Minh Hoan presented Decision No. 1360/QD-TTg dated June 26, 2025, of the Prime Minister, recognizing Dong Thap province as having completed the task of building new rural areas in 2024. To date, 100% of the communes in the province have met the new rural area standards, including 58 communes that have achieved advanced new rural area standards and 6 communes that have achieved model new rural area standards.

In his directive speech, Comrade Le Minh Hoan requested Dong Thap province to continue integrating the New Rural Development program with sustainable poverty reduction, focusing on "human infrastructure," promoting the intellectualization of farmers, developing a comprehensive rural economy, and bringing technology to villages. The goal of the program is not only to achieve standards and aim towards building smart and happy villages, but also to improve the quality of life for the people.

On this occasion, the People's Committee of Dong Thap province awarded Certificates of Commendation to 45 collectives and 66 individuals for their outstanding achievements in contributing to Dong Thap province's completion of the New Rural Development program in 2024.
