SPRING OF LOVE - TET OF AFFECTION
In Thuong Phuoc border commune, the Tet holiday atmosphere arrives early with practical activities to care for the community. Located at the forefront of the border region, the economic conditions are still challenging, but the spirit of sharing and compassion is always abundant here.

This year, Thuong Phuoc commune proactively connected with various resources and mobilized nearly 1,200 Tet gifts, with a total cost of approximately 600 million VND, to be delivered directly to households in difficult circumstances.
The most touching highlight in this series of activities was the "Zero-Cost Spring Market" organized by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thuong Phuoc commune.
Here, 250 shopping vouchers were distributed, equivalent to 250 gift packages worth 75 million VND.

At the market, people are free to choose essential necessities such as rice, instant noodles, eggs, cooking oil, sugar, MSG, and even new clothes for their children.

Leaving the border area of Thuong Phuoc, the atmosphere of preparing for Tet (Lunar New Year) in My Phong ward is also bustling. With close coordination between the local government, the Dong Thap Provincial Police, and the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Association of the province, the "Spring of Love - Tet of Compassion" program has become a bridge bringing the warmth of spring to hundreds of families.
Over 700 gifts were handed directly to poor households, families receiving preferential treatment, and vulnerable groups.

Ms. Le Thi Be Phuong, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairwoman of the People's Council of My Phong Ward, shared: “The Party Committee, the People's Committee, and the entire political system of the ward have identified taking care of the people during Tet (Lunar New Year) as a top priority. We have prepared more than 1,000 gifts to ensure that every family has a happy Tet. Seeing the people happy makes us feel warmer in these last days of the year.”
In Sa Dec ward, the focus of Tet celebrations is once again on the younger generation of the country. The "Spring Tree" program, organized by the ward's People's Committee, has brought joy to more than 500 children from impoverished families, orphans, disabled children, and children with special circumstances.

What makes this year's program special is that, in addition to cash support (250,000 VND per child) and fresh roses, each child also received valuable books from the "Reading with Cyclo" Project, donated by Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Le Minh Hoan.
This is an invaluable spiritual gift, conveying a message about the importance of learning and the will to strive for success. The books opened during Tet will be the tools that help children nurture their dreams, overcome adversity, and become useful citizens for society.
Sticky rice cake of love and compassion - the flavor of sharing.
Tet in the Mekong Delta would never be complete without the fragrant aroma of sticky rice cakes (banh tet). The Women's Union at all levels in Dong Thap province organized warm and cozy collective cake-making sessions.

The Women's Union of Hong Ngu Ward, in coordination with the Binh Thanh Border Guard Station, wrapped over 500 sticky rice cakes (banh tet). The skillful hands of the women and border guards beautifully wrapped the bond between the military and the people in layers of fresh banana leaves. These hot, freshly made cakes were immediately delivered to households in the border region, bringing with them the vibrant spirit of spring.
The effective implementation of social welfare policies not only helps alleviate difficulties for the people but also fosters the spirit of "mutual support and compassion" - a precious tradition of the Vietnamese nation. These gifts, whether material or spiritual, are a great source of motivation for poor and disadvantaged households, giving them more confidence and encouraging them to strive harder in the new year of the Horse. |
In An Binh ward, the Women's Union prepared 150 sticky rice cakes (banh tet) and cooked braised pork with eggs – typical dishes of the Tet holiday meal. These gifts were specifically for elderly people living alone, disabled women, and orphaned children.
Ms. Thuy An, Chairwoman of the Women's Union of An Binh Ward, shared: "We want to bring not just food, but the atmosphere of a family. So that elderly people living alone or people with disabilities feel that they are always cared for and looked after by the community."

It is evident that Tet celebrations in Dong Thap province are being carried out proactively, positively, and creatively. From "Zero-Cost Markets" to pots of steaming banh tet (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes), everything is geared towards a single goal: ensuring everyone can have a joyful Tet reunion.
