Nine development hubs, nine major centers, and nine dynamic axes, along with expanded underground space, maximum public transport connectivity, and exploitation of airspace, are breakthroughs in the master plan aimed at creating development resources for the capital city in the new era. This is also the result of Hanoi's implementation of a series of important laws and resolutions, including Resolution 258 of the National Assembly, Resolution 02 of the Politburo, and the Law on the Capital City, to build the unique, special, and superior mechanisms included in this master plan.
The Hanoi City Master Plan with a 100-year vision has been issued. According to this plan, Hanoi will develop in an open, multi-layered, multi-polar, and multi-centered spatial direction, with the Red River serving as the main axis. It will be closely linked with the Capital Region, the Red River Delta, the Northern Midlands and Mountains, and national and international economic corridors.
According to experts, Hanoi has adjusted its urban planning many times over the past 72 years. However, this time it is the largest-scale and most comprehensive change yet.
Hanoi will divide the implementation into approximately five phases. The first phase, from now until 2035, aims for Hanoi to become a national, regional, and international center for financial services, trade, and innovation. To realize this goal, the city must address bottlenecks.
With a long-term planning vision and the need to handle a massive workload in a short period, the city has proactively enhanced its forecasting capabilities, taking into account a scenario where the population nearly triples. Based on this, solutions have been developed regarding building density, green space, water bodies, and multi-layered urban development. In particular, public transportation, especially urban rail, will be a driving force for development in the coming period.
The master plan has been issued, serving as the basis for implementing subsequent steps such as general planning, zoning planning, and detailed planning. On June 29th, Hanoi will announce the Capital City Master Plan with a 100-year vision at the 2026 Investment Promotion Conference.
