The Ministry of Transport has just announced the conclusions of Deputy Minister Nguyen Xuan Sang after inspecting the road surface upgrading project of the Lo Te - Rach Soi route, passing through Can Tho City and Kien Giang province.

The Lộ Tẻ - Rạch Sỏi road upgrade project (over 51 km) has a total investment of approximately 750 billion VND.

The My Thuan Project Management Board (the investor) stated that construction on the project began on June 13th. To date, the contractor has been behind schedule and has not met the set progress . Estimated output is approximately 4%, lagging behind the contract value by about 7%.

To ensure the project's progress and quality, the Ministry of Transport requested the My Thuan Project Management Board to direct the contractor to mobilize sufficient machinery and equipment; increase the number of construction teams, and organize construction in three shifts and four teams to accelerate completion before June 30, 2025. The investor and relevant parties were also required to evaluate, test, and conduct trial construction before expanding the reuse of materials from the old road surface for creating the new roadbed.

For sections of old road surfaces with localized damage, relevant parties must assess the extent of the damage and its causes in order to propose solutions and implement thorough remediation before constructing new asphalt concrete sections.

During the upgrading project, the old road will still be in operation, so the leaders of the Ministry of Transport have requested that the investor and contractor regularly inspect and address any damaged areas to ensure traffic safety; and assign sufficient personnel to manage and regulate traffic flow.

The Lo Te - Rach Soi project has been identified by the Ministry of Transport as a project to be completed in 2025, aiming to meet the Government's goal of completing and putting into operation approximately 3,000km of expressways by 2025. The project is also part of the intensive emulation campaign "500 days and nights of emulation to complete 3,000km of expressways" launched by the Prime Minister.

The project to upgrade the road surface of the Lo Te - Rach Soi route has a total investment of approximately 750 billion VND, funded by the central government budget, with the Ministry of Transport as the investor. Construction started in June 2024 and is expected to be completed in June 2025.

Phase 1 of the Lo Te - Rach Soi route has a total length of 51km and a total investment of over 6,300 billion VND. The starting point is at the intersection of the Vam Cong bridge and the bypass of National Highway 91 (in Vinh Thanh district, Can Tho city), and the end point is at the Rach Gia city bypass (Kien Giang province). The road was completed and put into operation in January 2021, but less than 3 years after its completion, it suffered serious damage and required upgrading.
