Ho Chi Minh City plans to reclaim more than 250 hectares of land to promptly implement projects serving socio-economic development and urban beautification.

This aims to ensure the timely implementation of projects requiring land acquisition in accordance with the Land Law, meeting the socio-economic development needs of the locality, based on a review of projects with approved investment policies and allocated capital plans to ensure feasibility.

Accordingly, nine new projects requiring land acquisition have been registered, with a total land area of 234.7 hectares to be acquired.

Five projects requiring land acquisition, which were approved in the list of projects needing land acquisition in resolutions of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council but have not received land acquisition decisions within the two-year period, will now continue to be implemented with an area of over 18 hectares.

After reviewing the projects, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee found that they have full legal basis for implementation in 2025. Therefore, it proposed submitting these projects to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council for approval. These are public works and projects serving the essential needs of the locality in the process of socio-economic development and urban beautification.

Specifically, these projects have received resolutions from the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council regarding the investment policy and decisions on the 2024 plan allocation. Furthermore, these projects are currently continuing to implement the next steps to complete the procedures for land acquisition, land allocation/leasing, and land use conversion as stipulated by regulations.

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee also clearly presented the situation of two projects: the investment and construction of the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai expressway and the investment and construction of technical infrastructure for the resettlement area serving the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai expressway project and other public works projects in Pham Van Coi commune, Cu Chi district.

Accordingly, the Department of Finance will advise and submit to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council for approval the investment policy and allocate public investment capital for the two projects simultaneously at the March 2025 session (at the same time as submitting the list of land acquisition projects).
