Summer paints the socio -economic picture of Thanh Hoa with bright, vibrant colors with the explosion of sea tourism. The beautiful coastal city of Sam Son is "brilliant in color", the Hai Tien marine eco-tourism area "sings a love song" or a region "Nghi Son pearl sea - Aspiration to reach far"... Decoding that attraction with only the advantages of natural scenery, historical depth, cultural characteristics, cuisine... is not enough. It is the sum of the efforts and endeavors of all levels and sectors of the province through the periods and of the localities that are exploiting tourism.

Having been to Sam Son a couple of times, but each time, Ms. Mai Thi Nhung's family ( Hai Duong ) was surprised by the drastic changes in this tourist city. Strolling around the Sea Square with her husband and children, Ms. Nhung frankly said: "The first time I traveled to Sam Son was when I was dating and in love with my now husband. We were both excited and looking forward to it. However, to be honest, we had some bad experiences when we came here." After that first impression, Ms. Nhung and her husband told themselves that there would be "no next time". But then, the following trips with the company and a group of close friends brought Ms. Nhung back to Sam Son and gave her a completely different perspective and feeling: “The rapid changes of Sam Son during my return convinced me to completely change my previous prejudice. After only a few years of “not seeing” this land, it has become a very coastal tourist city. Luxury resorts, restaurants, and high-class hotels have sprung up side by side; tourism products are diverse and new. Service quality is increasingly improved in a civilized and friendly direction. Tourists coming here no longer have to worry about being “ripped off” or being solicited to buy goods, take photos, or restaurants “advertising sheep’s heads but selling dog meat…” - Ms. Nhung said, smiling.

Listening to their mother talk, Ms. Nhung's two children joined in the fun with their curiosity and excitement about the outdoor amusement park complex - Sun World Sam Son Park with the largest investment scale and area in the North. "It's a pity that this time we came to Sam Son, it was not the time when the water park opened. My two kids don't like the blue sea, white sand, and golden sunshine as much as other amusement parks like that. I plan to pack up and go back to Sam Son next year, so the kids can have a great experience" - Ms. Nhung turned to her children and said.

In recent years, Thanh Hoa's sea tourism has been undergoing a strong "transformation" in all aspects; the number of tourists and revenue from tourism activities has continuously increased, making an important contribution to the overall results of the province's tourism industry. In the first 5 months of 2024, the total number of tourists to Thanh Hoa reached nearly 6.77 million, an increase of 16.8% over the same period. Total tourism revenue is estimated at 11,889 billion VND, an increase of 30.8% over the same period. In May alone, there were about 1.815 million tourists to Thanh Hoa; total tourism revenue in May is estimated at 4,520 billion VND, an increase of 36.8% over the same period. Notably, Thanh Hoa is the leading locality in the country in terms of the number of tourists and tourism revenue during the recent April 30 and May 1 holidays. In particular, with impressive results, Sam Son deserves to be a "magnet" attracting tourists. In the past 5 months, Sam Son City welcomed nearly 3.7 million visitors, equal to 106.9% over the same period, equal to 43.5% of the plan; served 6.8 million visitor days, equal to 114.6% over the same period, reaching 41.1% of the plan; tourism revenue is estimated at more than 5,728 billion VND, equal to 116.2% over the same period, reaching 36.4% of the plan.

Along with the impressive breakthrough in infrastructure - services; promoting investment promotion, linkage; preparing well the conditions, building plans and strategies for the beach tourism season, the constant innovation and launching of tourism products have really brought a new vitality, extending the "tourism guide" of Sam Son throughout the four seasons. The opening night of the Sam Son Sea Tourism Festival, which was organized elaborately and grandly, is always an expected and awaited event, the "starting shot" to open an impressive beach tourism season. Many tourism products were launched during the beach tourism season such as: Sea square area, Sam Son City festival landscape axis; outdoor entertainment park complex - Sun World Sam Son Park; Walking street combined with souvenir shopping, refreshments, display, introduction of OCOP products... Every year, in Sam Son city, there are about 30 festivals, including 5 city-level festivals which are typical tourism products, bearing the cultural and religious imprint of the coastal area. Many artistic activities, cheerleading and street parades, sports competitions (National Beach Tennis Tournament, Ho Chi Minh City Television Cup Cycling Tournament...) have created a vibrant summer in the beautiful coastal land.

Step by step, Sam Son is being built into a festival city. This year's beach tourism season, visitors will be able to participate in 17 major events. "Sam Son City is both the host and organizer of consecutive events, spanning the months of the year. Through cultural and artistic programs and sports and tourism activities, we introduce to the people and domestic and foreign tourists the positive changes and strong transformations in the urban appearance and quality of Sam Son tourism services with unique tourism products; affirming that Sam Son City is gradually building and developing into a key national tourist city, an ideal destination for domestic and international tourists" - Ms. Tran Thi Tinh, Deputy Head of the Department of Culture and Information of Sam Son City said.

Although it does not have the same tradition, scale of investment, and speed of development as Sam Son, Hai Tien (Hoang Hoa) Eco-tourism Area has become an attractive destination, inviting tourists every summer. After more than 12 years of operation, Hai Tien Eco-tourism Area is changing strongly day by day, gradually affirming its brand on the tourism map of Thanh Hoa. Tourism infrastructure and technical facilities are invested in a modern and synchronous direction; service quality is increasingly improved; building a green, clean, and beautiful tourism environment, meeting the needs of tourists better and better, aiming at the goal of "3 yes" (having synchronous tourism infrastructure, having a civilized tourism environment, having friendly and hospitable tourists). Flamingo Hai Tien coming into operation has also added to the attraction, raising the level of Hoang Hoa sea tourism. In the first 5 months of 2024, Hoang Hoa district welcomed more than 400,120 visitors for sightseeing and relaxation, reaching 138% over the same period in 2023; estimated revenue reached over 500 billion VND.

It can be affirmed that Thanh sea tourism has built a prominent brand in the Northern and North Central regions, becoming a tourism product with scale, competitiveness, ability to attract visitors, becoming the nucleus spreading tourism for the whole province. To achieve the above results, besides the advantages of natural scenery, human tourism resources..., the most important thing is the process of efforts, trying to concentrate on mobilizing resources, synchronously implementing solutions of all levels, sectors, localities, businesses and the joint efforts and consensus of the people. Sea tourism has always been the most rich and brilliant color of Thanh tourism.
