Tourism thrives during the holiday season.

With thorough product preparation and strong promotional efforts, Khanh Hoa attracted a large number of tourists during the April 30th and May 1st holiday period.

Over 262,000 overnight visitors

During this year's April 30th and May 1st holidays, the weather was very hot, making Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa, a popular coastal tourist destination, one of the favorite spots for visitors. According to a report from Cam Ranh International Airport, from April 27th to May 1st, there were 711 flights to and from Cam Ranh International Airport, a 36.7% increase compared to the same period in 2023. This included 422 international flights and 289 domestic flights (143 arrivals and 146 departures). Furthermore, a large number of tourists traveled to Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa by road, especially by private vehicles. Notably, since April 26th, the Cam Lam - Vinh Hao expressway has been operational, making the route from Ho Chi Minh City to Nha Trang much smoother and reducing travel time. As a result, many tourists from southern provinces visited Nha Trang during this period. During the peak days of the holiday (April 28-30), the Tran Phu - Pham Van Dong coastal road was always packed with tourist vehicles. The beaches along Tran Phu and Pham Van Dong roads were crowded with people enjoying themselves and swimming to "cool off".

According to estimates from the Department of Tourism, during this holiday period, the entire province welcomed over 262,000 overnight visitors , an increase of more than 31.3% compared to the 2023 holiday period. Resorts in Bai Dai (Cam Lam district) such as Radisson Blu, Ana Mandara Cam Ranh, Alma, The Anam, and Fusion Cam Ranh all achieved occupancy rates exceeding 95% throughout the holiday. In Nha Trang City, the Vinpearl hotel and resort system had very high occupancy rates. Hotels and resorts with prime locations along Tran Phu beach road such as InterContinental, Novotel Nha Trang, Grand Gosia, and Sheraton Nha Trang all reached occupancy rates of over 90%. Other hotels also had fairly good occupancy rates. Many hotels and resorts organized buffet parties and musical performances to entertain tourists.

Popular tourist attractions

The surge in tourists, coupled with local people going on holiday, resulted in crowded popular attractions in Nha Trang, especially Vinpearl Resort (Hon Tre Island), Hon Tam Resort, and various sea and island tours. Mr. Tran Van Phu, Head of Nha Trang Tourist Pier, stated that during this holiday period, the pier welcomed 35,000 visitors on sea and island tours, mostly domestic tourists, with international visitors primarily from South Korea and China. City attractions such as the Ponagar Tower, Long Son Pagoda, Hon Chong scenic area, Truong Son craft village, and the Oceanographic Museum also received a large number of visitors. “During the 5-day holiday, the Oceanographic Museum welcomed nearly 20,000 visitors who came to learn about the world of marine life and documents on Vietnam's sovereignty over its maritime territories in the East Sea…”, shared Mr. Truong Si Hai Trinh, Deputy Head of the Information and Communication Department of the Institute of Oceanography.

Visiting Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa during this year's holiday season, tourists can immerse themselves in the festive atmosphere day and night. After sightseeing and enjoying local seafood specialties, visitors can also enjoy the spectacular artistic performances of the International Jazz Festival at April 2nd Square (Nha Trang). “I have traveled to Nha Trang many times. Here, the sea is clear blue, the seafood is delicious, and the people are friendly. This time, Nha Trang has a jazz program to entertain tourists, which I really like. I hope that in future holidays, Nha Trang will continue to have such artistic programs,” shared Ms. Ha Linh, a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City. Many tourists are also delighted to visit Nha Trang during this time to see and learn about the Mother Goddess worship and the unique cultural features of the Ponagar Tower Festival. In addition, a large number of tourists came to enjoy themselves and shop at Vinpearl Harbour, enjoy the Tata Show, and watch the high-altitude fireworks display at VinWonders Nha Trang (on the evenings of April 30th and May 1st).

Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Thanh, Director of the Department of Tourism, stated that despite the high increase in tourist numbers, tourism activities in the province remain orderly and safe for visitors. During peak hours, traffic police officers have been involved in regulating and directing traffic to prevent congestion. Tourism businesses have also strictly complied with regulations related to tourism business operations. The inter-agency inspection team inspected 5 tourism accommodation establishments and 2 tourist areas/sites, all of which complied quite well with legal regulations on pricing, registering, declaring, and posting prices of goods and services, and selling at the posted prices; ensuring food safety and hygiene conditions as prescribed.

According to estimates from the Department of Tourism, during the 5-day holiday, the province welcomed over 262,000 overnight visitors, an increase of more than 31.3% compared to the 2023 holiday period, including nearly 190,500 domestic tourists and 71,667 international tourists. The average occupancy rate reached 87.4%. Tourist destinations in the province welcomed 707,800 visitors. Total tourism revenue during the holiday period reached over 1,306.7 billion VND, an increase of 53% compared to the 2023 holiday period.
