Green tourism is not just a trend, but also a practical solution to help many localities develop sustainably. Binh Thuan's tourism industry is strongly transforming itself towards sustainability, with many accommodation and tourism service establishments pioneering the "greening" of their products.
Operating according to the ESG model
Businesses are reinvesting in equipment and making the most of the local scenic attractions while operating tourism projects in Binh Thuan .
Many tourist areas in Binh Thuan have proactively switched to using green energy, such as wind and solar, minimizing the use of environmentally harmful fuels. These tourist areas are operating and developing according to the ESG (environmental-social-governance) model, an important set of standards for assessing the sustainability and social responsibility of businesses.
According to Mr. Nguyen Duc Tien, General Director of Mui Ne Bay Resort (Phan Thiet City, Binh Thuan Province), green spaces and environmental friendliness are top priorities in the design of this resort. Here, the construction density is only about 20%, prioritizing the use of environmentally friendly materials. The resort is designed to be airy and spacious, maximizing natural light and ventilation; maintaining large green spaces with many native tree species suitable to the natural conditions.

Many tourist and resort areas in Binh Thuan are designed with maximum emphasis on green spaces, gardens, and trees.
Mui Ne Bay Resort also features a solar-powered electricity and hot water system. With many products and amenities for guests, the resort prioritizes the use of environmentally friendly materials such as bamboo, porcelain, ceramics, and paper.
At Sonata Resort & Spa (Tien Thanh commune, Phan Thiet city), the color green is everywhere. This resort prioritizes the elimination of single-use plastic items. In addition, it organizes programs to educate guests on how to save water and electricity, and not to litter on the beach...
"We started by sorting waste at the source, minimizing plastic waste by replacing straws, plastic bags, and plastic cups with materials like bamboo, paper, or using recycled products. The resort also collaborates with the local community to collect and process waste effectively," said Mr. Pham Quang Hau, CEO of Sonata Resort & Spa.
Blend in with nature
Green tourism is also clearly reflected in the architectural design of tourist and resort areas. Many resorts in Binh Thuan choose to build in a way that is friendly to nature, minimizing the impact on the natural landscape and maximizing the use of natural light and wind.
Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa, Chairman of the Binh Thuan Provincial Tourism Association, observed: "Many resorts in the locality are designed in harmony with the natural landscape, without altering the ecosystem, and at the same time focus on using environmentally friendly construction materials."
For example, Little Mũi Né Cottages (Phan Thiết City) builds bungalows from materials such as bamboo, rattan, and wood, blending seamlessly into the lush green surroundings and diverse vegetation. Mr. Trần Văn Bình, Director of Little Mũi Né Cottages, affirmed: "We strive to preserve the natural features and topography, avoiding excessive concrete. Tourists appreciate the close connection with nature and the tranquility it offers."

The bungalows in Binh Thuan are built from traditional, eco-friendly materials.
Meanwhile, the Que Huong Beach Community Tourism Area (Thuan Quy commune, Ham Thuan Nam district, Binh Thuan province) is considered a breakthrough in green architecture by recycling 13 old shipping containers and renovating them into an administrative and business building with a floor area of up to 850 m². The building is not only aesthetically pleasing but also a symbol of environmentally friendly tourism, reducing greenhouse gas emissions while effectively utilizing reusable materials.

The Que Huong Beach tourist area stands out with its architecture made from old shipping containers, surrounded by natural landscapes.
Architect Nguyen Thanh Hai, who designed the aforementioned project, commented: "Using shipping containers not only brings economic benefits but also promotes environmental awareness." Furthermore, repurposing old shipping containers helps minimize construction waste and limit the impact on the natural ecosystem.
According to Mr. Nguyen Minh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Thuan province, sustainable development has become a central issue for many countries in recent years and an inevitable trend for the future. In Binh Thuan, sustainable development is one of the fundamental aspects of implementing the economic growth model reform.
Essentially, sustainable development requires ensuring a balance between socio-economic and environmental aspects; encouraging socio-economic development in conjunction with environmental protection and improvement, ensuring harmony between the man-made and natural environments, and preserving biodiversity. "Based on that, the government, businesses, and people of Binh Thuan have been actively promoting 'greening,' focusing primarily on the tourism sector," Mr. Nguyen Minh emphasized.
Successfully "greening" the tourism industry will help Vietnam in general, and provinces and cities in particular - including Binh Thuan - not only conserve resources and protect the environment but also increase cultural and economic value for the locality and community.
Global trends
According to economist Dr. Tran Du Lich, green tourism is a global trend as it can limit negative impacts on the environment, enhance the value of local traditional culture, and help preserve natural heritage...
Mr. Tran Du Lich stated that to develop green tourism, the first step is to utilize renewable energy, followed by respect for nature and preservation of local culture. "Respecting local culture and ensuring fairness within the tourism community are crucial because tourism cannot develop without local people benefiting from it," he noted.
