(CLO) The Spring Press Festival has long been an indispensable part of the spiritual life of journalists, providing an opportunity for reporters and journalists to meet, interact, exchange ideas, learn from each other's experiences, and create a special cultural space during Tet (Lunar New Year). It is also a place where journalists connect with readers, listen to opinions from a wide audience, and thus better serve the public through journalism.

Creating a unique cultural space

"Where to go and what to do this Tet holiday?" is a question many people ask every time spring arrives and Tet comes around. Understanding this need, the Journalists' Associations in localities across the country organize Spring Press Festivals with cultural and spiritual activities that are joyful and creative, gradually becoming a distinctive feature of Vietnamese Tet culture.

The Spring Press Festival coincides with the anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam , a significant milestone in the nation's history. Therefore, the Spring Press Festival is also an event within the series of cultural and artistic activities celebrating the Party and the Spring Festival, becoming an indispensable part of the spiritual life of the Vietnamese people.

This is also an opportunity for members, journalists, and reporters from media agencies in the province and the central government based in the area to exchange, interact, and learn from each other's experiences to improve their professional skills and move towards a more professional press.

Recognizing this as an activity that attracts public and journalistic participation, many associations at various levels across the country have made innovations and creative approaches in organizing and implementing it, based on lessons learned from previous years.

Many provincial Journalists' Associations issued implementation plans early on, in addition to contacting local branches, they also organized newspaper subscriptions. This included ordering Lunar New Year editions from central media agencies and ministries, and then compiling them for distribution and display in various localities.

In addition, some localities have coordinated with the provincial departments of culture, sports, tourism, libraries, and agriculture to organize Tet newspaper exhibitions combined with cultural and artistic activities, folk games at the beginning of the year, and tourism promotion. Many localities have also linked the display and reading of Tet newspapers with reading books, displaying Tet newspapers online to help people access newspapers and magazines easily and conveniently.

Along with the Spring Press Festival, there is also a cultural space exhibition, where the spirit of spring converges with many unique activities such as: a Vietnamese Tet space, a calligraphy space, a Vietnamese traditional costume space, with check-in points showcasing Vietnamese culture past and present…

In Quang Ninh province, the recent Spring Press Festival was held in all 13 districts, towns, and cities. The Provincial Journalists Association coordinated with the Cultural, Sports and Communication Centers and the People's Committees of the districts, towns, and cities to organize the event. To enhance its appeal, the Spring Press Festival also featured spring flowers, ornamental plants, and traditional craft products. This attracted more public attention to the festival, offering a wider variety of cultural and artistic activities during the spring season.

Journalist Do Ngoc Ha, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Quang Ninh Provincial Journalists Association, said: "The Spring Press Festival not only meets the information needs of the public and readers, but also serves as a meaningful destination for press and television agencies as well as journalists to meet, interact, exchange experiences, and listen to opinions from a large number of readers, thereby overcoming limitations and continuing to build on achievements in the new year."

It's not just a celebration for journalists.

Although it is an annual event, each year the organizing units come up with new ideas, with the motto of innovating the content and form of activities to create a diverse and rich cultural space, best serving the cultural needs of people to gather, celebrate the Spring Festival, and enjoy the Lunar New Year. Many localities have identified this as a cultural destination and space, contributing to enriching the spiritual life of the people.

In that spirit, the Spring Press Festival 2025 in Lam Dong province, held from January 24th to February 4th, made a significant impression on journalists and the public alike. Sixteen participating units showcased their unique styles, contributing to a vibrant, lively, and dignified spring atmosphere. The warm ambiance of the festival was evident in the harmonious blend of colors from the publications and the spacious exhibition area.

A notable highlight of this year's Lam Dong Province Spring Newspaper Festival was the "Giving Calligraphy at the Beginning of the Year" activity. The "Mưu Lê" calligraphy group donated 300 calligraphic works, wishing a happy new year and sending best wishes to readers near and far. This activity further affirms the connection between calligraphy and journalism within the space of the Spring Newspaper Festival. In addition, various units also coordinated the donation of spring newspapers to soldiers in Truong Sa, bringing the spirit of spring to the soldiers in the islands.

Journalist Le Van Toa, Chairman of the Lam Dong Journalists Association, said that the Spring Press Festival is a place where journalists introduce to the public many carefully selected articles and vivid images, reflecting a wide range of emotions; truthfully reflecting the overall picture of political, economic, social, cultural, national defense, and security life of the whole country and of Lam Dong province after a year full of difficulties and challenges.

Similarly, at the Spring Newspaper Exhibition of Khanh Hoa Province in 2025, to increase its attractiveness and novelty in order to attract the public, the Provincial Journalists Association continued to pay attention to and focus on displaying spring newspaper publications that were both aesthetically pleasing and reflected the thematic meaning, as well as creating a lasting impression on viewers.

In particular, the Khanh Hoa Spring Press Festival 2025 will also display artistic photographs about the homeland, Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa tourism, and informational images about Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa - Truong Sa islands...

Journalist Doan Minh Long - Chairman of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Journalists Association shared: The Spring Press Festival of the Year of the Snake also features beautifully decorated areas to serve the needs of visitors for taking souvenir photos. The organizing committee has also sent official letters to several schools in Nha Trang City requesting their support in bringing students to visit the Spring Press Festival. During the Spring Press Festival, the Provincial Library also organized activities to attract readers to visit and experience the event…

“The Spring Press Festival has concluded, and the Organizing Committee has nominated several outstanding journalistic works about Khanh Hoa for the Spring editions to be awarded prizes and sent as gifts to libraries and cultural centers in the province. In particular, a number of newspapers were sent as gifts to the military and civilians on the islands of the Truong Sa archipelago. These newspapers represent the heartfelt contributions of agencies, units, businesses, and media outlets in the province, working together to improve the spiritual lives and meet the reading needs of the officers, soldiers, and people of Truong Sa,” journalist Doan Minh Long further shared.
